The three gallon pot will sustain a plant for three to four months. If you wanted to make one of these your mother plant i would put it in a five gallon or larger pot. As for transplanting, veg in one gallon containers or slightly larger, then transplant to the three gallon pot. Anything else?

sea of green...plants in a multiple of 4 will get you a harvest every 2 weeks...just take out 1/4 of them for harvest then add 1/4 fresh plants...perpetual harvest...good luck
p.s.there are several older threads on this...just go back some pages
