Natural CO2??

This is my first post here. I enjoy the site, Good job my friends. Well to introduce myself a bit. Im a med. grower from a non med state. I have been growing for little over a year now, and have had fantastic success. I have grown some outdoor in the past 10 years, but just a few plants here and there. As well as missing summers in between. I am much more serious and dedicated now. I need my medicine to help deal with my pain/spasms/cramps not to mention the myotonia. I have MMD, Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy. It is type 1 the adult onset type. It is a genetic disorder that basically effects chromozone 19. I need to grow my own not only for the money it saves me, but because i cant smoke that brickweed crap:-(. I recently moved out to the boondocks, i love it out here in the country. Anyway i used to grow in a small utility room and i used just a single 400 hps. I now veg with a 400 MH and im planning on flowering with a 400 hps/400 MH. I like what ive read about the dual-spec that my plants will get so i am giving it a try. Im currently have some Purple Urkle in veg along with 1 PPP mother plant. BTW i been having a hell of a time cloning that girl. I dont understand why?, but i will continue too try :wall: I never had any problems with other strains.

My new set up is a bit diffrent. Id have to guess im bout the only one growing like this. I have a room approx. 4ftx4ft with a 8 ft ceiling. I covered the walls with mylar for the most part. I also painted the other parts flat white. This little room is actually an outhouse:lol: I took out the toilet box/seat and covered the hole with plywood. It has cement floor. I screwd the door shut. I also started a new compost pile in front of this door. BTW the outhouse is a 2 person type, his and hers. Yes, i do have a toilet in the house LOL. The only way into the grow space is thru a small well hidden door on the other side. You have to go thru the chicken coop to gain access to the door/hidden false wall. The door is hidden by the nest boxes for the chickens. This works out great, you would never in a million years know it was there. BTW i have a mean ass rooster that will flog the crap out of you if you go into the coop:lol:

My question is this, Will i gain any benefit from the gases put off from the septic tank? It does reek in there. I bet you could never smell the weed over the septic as well as all the chicken litter. I am saving lots of money on a carbon filter and all that:bigjoint: So i know the crap puts off methane gas is this the same as CO2?? What other advantages do you all see from these extra gasses ? Or for that matter whay sort of set backs ?

I can tell you one thing, my plants have never looked so damn good!!! Very lush, dark glossy green leaves, thick stems, and almost velvety leaves. If the veg state is this good i cant wait till i flower. So what do u all think? I cant wait for replies. I will be checking out this forum more and more. Hope to meet some good growers out there to share their vast knowledge with me

Thanks in advance

As long as you have adequate ventilation you should be fine. Plus, as you stated, your plants are getting the benefit of the increased CO2 levels. You should call this weed "ShitStorm" :-D

:bigjoint:Thanks man, I know there had to be increased levels of CO2, but how much do u think? Yea it brings up a diffrent image when you call it "SHITWEED!!" LOL:lol: Yea plent of ventalation. Im not using an exhaust fan. Just a small fan to keep air moving. Itd just a plywood building, no insulation and all that, it has been there for decades. I just built on the chicken coop on the back side. Im going to ad a goat shed/pen soon as well

I don't know what sort of CO2 levels you've got. If you want to find out, precisely, you'll need to get a CO2 meter (I have no idea how much they cost). As for ventilation, you should put a hole in the wall near the floor and another hole on the opposite wall near the ceiling. It's not ideal, but with the circulation fan you already have going tt should improve your ventilation.

I thought about putting a small hole into the chicken coop for air exchange. Maybe a small window type fan. There are lots of cracks and such around, especially up on the roof round the rafters/ceiling joists. There is no drywall or anything.

I'd think the methane gas wouldn't be good for the plants.

Also methane would be the dominate gas.

Methane is methane and CO2 is CO2.
trivia: Methane is like 10 times more damaging as greenhouse gas then CO2.

Decomposing sewage produces large amounts of CO2 in addition to methane gas. You are correct though about methane not being "good" for the plants. Methane is one of the main waste components of photosynthesis i.e. it is "exhaled" by the plants.

They been in ther bout 3 weeks now. As for light leaks there arn't any thats visible from the outside. tube chaulk fixed that problem. I happened to have a little window fan. I think ill get out the sawsall in the morning do a little upgrade in the grow umm shit house:)

I took care of the light leaks with a tube of chaulking. I also installed small 8 inch house fan and am exhausting it into the chicken coop. The little extra heat the girls(my hens) will like that. I run a light in the chicken coop at night when the temps drop below freezing. This weed is freaking exploding with growth. It has to be the gases from the septic. I am growing the exact same way i have always done. Same containers, soil mix, nutes even same light. Just amazing. I hope to find my damn usb cable for my camera soon so i can upload a few pics. I LOVE shit house growing..lol
