Nanoflares and the Solar Corona

The mystery of the corona's temperature might be on the verge of being solved.
Then again, maybe it's just a wild goose? There's still no discussion of Electromagnetic effects.

The funny part is a nanoflare is probably around the size of Earth. So if you had one, we'd be BBQ'ed.

But I'm still confused as to what the NuStar sat images were actually showing. I presume those were X-ray emissions, but they are localized, so how that fits into the corona is beyond my intuition.
I think part of the problem is the idea of temperature as it applies to the corona. What is really meant by temperature, IMO, is the kinetic energy of particles. If that can be accepted as the fundamental meaning, then it becomes easier to discuss the matter as EM acceleration of ionized particles.
Of course, that brings up the can of worms regarding the source of the EM... :lol:
