Mylar detectable by the Garda/Police!!!!???

I was in my local hydroshop yesterday, and the girl working there was trying to sell me a Mylar substitute. Apparently the Garda (Irish name police if you didn't know), and detect grow rooms that are covered in Mylar, and loads of people are getting busted!
Now I'm no expert, but that just sounds like bullsh1t to me. I'd say she was just trying to get a sale out me. Getting me to buy the other mylar stuff. It looks just like mylar, and cost a little less, but the police can't detect it!

Anyone else hear of anything of the sort?

I thats what I thought. Unless the stupid fecks getting caught are using Mylar to block out living room windows or greenhouses!!! lol

Mylar is aluminized polyester film. What would they be detecting? If you had a wardrobe filling with bad clothes from the 1970's would that bring them knocking?

I didn't believe what she was saying, but she believed it.
Lets say she was away with the fairies!!! lol

they have reflective material that are also supposed to block IR waves, which is how a lot of grow ops get caught(helicopters with IR cams, see the immense heat coming form grow ops), but Im pretty sure that stuff is more expensive than mylar, so that probably not it.
