My Young Clones Thrived in Pure Hot Super Soil?

I'm an organic grower, and I mix my own (pretty hot) Super Soil.

About a month ago I took some clones from a Sugar Punch mother plant. Seven out of eight clones survived and sprouted roots. But when it was time to transplant them into their first soil mix (at 3 weeks since being cut), I had no normal soil to use. I usually use pure Roots Organic when they're young, but I had none.

So I transplanted them straight into pure hot Super Soil. And I kinda expected them to burn and die, but they thrived. So what conclusions can be drawn as to why they thrived instead of burned?

* Maybe the Sugar Punch strain can handle hot soil?

* Maybe since they were clones, they were technically old enough to be ready for hot soil?

* Maybe if they had been grown from seed, they would have burnt in Super Soil at only 3 weeks old?

Nice. I was just thinking about what would happen if I skipped straight into super soil from solo cups. I may so a side by side now just to see any difference.

It was cooked very well and plants adapt to your methods, I have done this before and just add ewc around roots to buffer them. Goodjob

I think the soil was aged and ready to go, by "hot" you probably were thinking different terms, typically even supersoil (it IS very high in soluble nitrogen) is considered "hot", but I've heard that term used loosely, often pertaining to the soil simply not being aged enough.
First, as a grower of the sugarpunch the fact that 7 out of 8 rooted is to be applauded :clap:

That girl is a fussy bitch. I get about 60% to root, and I've even had rooted clones die, and it's not my first rodeo, but the SP is, well, honestly, an annoying plant to grow.
Clones with an established root system can be transplanted directly into a well amended soil, provided it's been aged.
That's the key.
Off topic sorta, what were your thoughts on the sugarpunch?
I have two diff phenos, and they are about 15 days from harvest, look pretty great but the plant is a bitch to grow, and it's sorta being outdone by the sannie freebie I got at the same time, mad scientist X jackberry.
All in all, unless the smoke is amazing I won't run it again.

from a party cup you'd be fine, I've done that for years, and years.
it's seedlings and their sensitive and fragile taproot that ya gotta be careful with.
Clones are usually good to go.

Yes, I always age my soil at least 45 days before using it. And usually longer (90-120 days sometimes, due to a backlog in my grow room).

The Sugar Punch is a bit of a finicky grower. She'll act spindly at first, and she doesn't produce the biggest buds. But she has always finished well for me in terms of aroma and potency.

I've grown Sugar Punch twice from seeds, and now a third time from clones, and the smoke is wonderful. The taste, the aroma, and the high are all great.

And as you know, the seeds are very reasonably priced.

It's one of our favorite strains.

thanks for your information, from the looks of my SP, I think it could be better, but long story short, I had to keep her in "stasis" for almost a full year, so undoubtedly that hindered the overall end result, it just was a bit after transplanting before she started growing a good green.
I did get clones and I will do it "right" this next time, but i'm on a bit of a strain-hunt.. so I have TOO many strains to deal with as is, and that's not including different phenos.
I'll be able to tell this run though, she is looking pretty frosty.
