Hey Shiva,
As far as I know, you take a clean scalpel/razor/stanley blade, cut at 45*, remove the lowest branches to leave about 2in bare stalk, dip in rooting hormone then plant in your usual soil. Ideally then you wanna give a light watering, and add some rooting suppliment like that from Hesi or something similar. This is all from stuff i've read and seen by the way. I'd recommend you download a package from isohunt.com of lots of eBooks and vids on cultivation - just search for weed growing or something similar.
Cheers
PS - I got a 2nd hand 400w HPS with integrated hood and ballast with bulb from eBay - £35! Sweeeeeet
Oh, and i'd re-veg the cutting plant - i think flowering is too much stress to put on it while it's trying to produce new roots!

I'd get a new bulb if i were u, you dont know how old it is and how much the output has degraded

Well I may find the spare cash, but it's definitely bright enough. Efficiency is the only potential worry i'd say. It's more than powerful enough for my future (near future! Germination begins tomorrow) project

hey shiva if your in limited space with one large shive strain(short stalky) but are worried about space upward take clones, trim down the plant let em root for a bit put in decent pots let em veg for a week or two then just do very very light trimming on your two bigger at the very bottom for cirulation and when your ready to flower fill out the room to its potential with the clones you took.

Thanks for the tips guys but at the moment i don't really have anywhere to put clones... I have topped it so have one clone at the moment and am trying to get somewhere sorted to put clones...

will have to see what i can do - thanks for the tips though! Very helpful!

HEy shiva i read ALL NINE pages of your grow journal. I have a question, what soil are you using and i take it, it has worked well. This journal has also inspired me to start a journal. I would like to see some pics of your flowering. How did you change to flower, did you change the lighting cycle from 18/6 to 12/12? I hope you yield a good amount of herb. Cheers

Well, I'm just using a very basic garden centre soil that had a high nitrogen content. Then I bought some perlite and some vermiculite and have mixed it all together. i would suggest, 15-20% perlite, 25% vermiculite and the rest made up with yourt basic soil. Try and get one that says 'high nitrogen content'. I've not used miracle grow or any other supplements just perlite, vermiculite and soil and it works a treat.

I haven't quite started flowering yet but I can assure you I will be posting pics as soon as I start, I'm really not that far away.

I've literally just topped my big plant as it was getting a bit too big and my smaller one will hopefully catch it up soon so i can flower them both together.

The clone that i started from topping the big one is not too good at the moment but cross fingers... we'll see!

Glad you liked my journal and proud it inspired you to start yours. It's real useful anyway to keep track of your own grow so I'd suggest anyone do it! Look forward to reading yours and hopefully can be of help to you in the future!

p.s. I'm currently running a 24 hour light cycle. I'm in the UK and growing in a cold garage so figured this would help with temperature. I will be switching to a 12/12 so will keep you posted!

cheers!

Both plants now... the larger one at the back has now been topped and is still growing successfully, the smaller one is almost equal in height but not as bushy.

Both are about 8 inches high and not I will be starting to flower next week! YIPPEE!

Thoughts please!

hi guys, well this is my baby girl (hopefully) 16 days after germination... she's looking pretty healthy i think so not bad for a newbie in a cold climate growing in a garage...

i did notice (which you can see in the pics) some slight brown tips oon one of the leaves, though this is not occurring in the other new leaves that are growing, any ideas what it could be?

i've only just started adding a quarter measure of nutes but not to any great degree...
Shiva I should be here but Im at day 11 or less. How did your plant grow so quickly? When did you transfer to vermiculite and what did you transfer from?

Hi mate,

I'm not sure why mine grew so quick. To be honest I was quite surprised myself. I start them off in small pots with normal high nitrogen soil from garden centre mixed with a dash of perlite... I waited probably up to a couple of weeks when they'd out-grown their pots and then replanted them, mixing vermiculite in with the soil. I waited again probably 3-4 weeks and finally planted them into the pots that they are in now.

I''ve no idea why they grw so quick but it could be that I am only growing 2 plants in a very small area that is enclosed which means my 200W envirolite is outputting anything between 10,000 and 15,000 lumens in that area which probably works out at more than the recommended 2,500 per square foot. There is a fan sucking fresh air in constantly and a vent that allows bad air to escape so this helps make the plants strong.

I've not had to use nutes though I did try once and damaged the leaf tips (even at less than quarter strength).

Just keep playing with your set-up because suddenly it will all fall into place and you'll have some quick growing lovely looking plants on your hands.

I guess it could be the strain of plant you're growing. i wish I could help but I'm still a newbie myself - just a very lucky one I guess!

Hi guys,

The last pic that was posted as you can see some of the leaves at the bottom started to go yellow. I've trimmed three leaves off tonight (maybe i shouldn't have) but they were all really yellow, and i mean like proper yellow...

lack of nutrients? any ideas...?

p.s. no responses from anyone as this is being edited on 14th, but i'm thinking it was nitrogen deficiency. Have added nutrients since so will wait and see...
