My tenants are growing, I think

Hey Everybody!
I had a question for any of the legal saavy members of RIU. I am a landlord who has several rental properties. I am pretty certain that the tenants at one property inparticular are growing. I have no proof, just a suspicion. IF they are, more power to them. I dont care. However, What would happen to me in the event they were busted? Could I be charged because I am the owner of the property?

My thinking is that I would have a valid defense against any charges. But I am open to any and all comments/suggestions/advice. Thanks
 
I think you could just say you had no idea they were growing there's like a word/legal term for it just can't think of it atm someone else probably knows.
 
As long as you dont know about it and allow it Then there is nothing that can be done to you ,, BUT if they can tie you to the grow then you could in a worst case , Loose the property .....
 
Plausible deniability, as long as you are in no way connected to the grow op, then you should be fine.
 
id say as long as you don have any thing at your house you be fine but if they found that then found a plant at your house they say it was connected and might try to take both of the properties also like said does depend on state
 
yah pretty sure you are ok.

in oregon, if you are a medical patient, it is entirley your discretion whether or not you want to disclose to your landlord that you grow marijuana.
 
Relax and take a toke, have you even considered that it could be a legal grow?
Then I suggest you sit back, and realize this is all hypothetical.
Your in no immediate danger bro.

Hey guys, Thanks for the replys. After checking with my attorney I was informed that I would have very high chances (no pun intended) on being in no trouble at all.

To Sure Shot: Yeah I have thought that it might be a legal grow, which is one of the reasons I dont care too much. I aint gonna drop the dime on a patient. From what I can tell if they are growing its pretty small. Nothing to get all pissy about.

I have had numerous replys asking if I have places to rent. well the answer is no, but the bottom line is that there are landlords like us everywhere. I know of several in my town. Just a matter of finding them.

i learned a long time ago to be honest with tennants /landlords about your lifestyle at some point you might need to show them your place for one reason or another i always told my land lords that i smoke and drink on the weekends so there are no surprises but i also know there are privacy laws protecting tennants so i guess do whatever you want and be a good person!
 
Haha, and what town would that be?

The only thing that I don't thin anyone else has mentioned, if you know about the grow but do nothing about it there is a VERY SMALL chance you could get charged with conspiracy. Or something of the like if you KNEW or reasonably should have known that your tenants were growing.

But knowing they were growing, and thinking that they are are totally different.
