My SOG idea. any thoughts/advice/tips appreciated

I will be finishing my second grow from seed within the next month and am now looking forward to my next grow. I would like to start a mother plant in order to grow SoG style. I have a 4x4 1000w flowering tent for this. I will have a seperate space for a mother plant, clones, and veg. I want 4 plants every two weeks to go into the flowering tent. An idea I would like to experiment on is taking 8 clones at a time and root them simultaneously. I would veg 4 of the plants for about 2 weeks (after rooting) then throw them into the flower room without any topping, LSTing, lollipopping, etc... As for the extra 4 clones I will have taken, I will veg those for an extra 2 weeks (4 weeks veg total after rooting) and lollipop them for fat main colas. I would rotate between untrained plants and lollipopped main cola plants every 2 weeks. This would make it easier to fit 16 plants into the flower tent at a time.

Also, for the mother/clone/veg room, would 4 125w cfl's be effective for this scenario?

Sounds good but i wouldnt bother rotating each plant in 4x4 under 1000 as this will be enough light for that area, just have the grow room sectioned into quarters and move them from one to the next as each batch finishes. Make sure you get an 8 week flowering strain because if they need another week it would stuff up the 2 week stages.

thanks for the reply. I just may have to do that after hearing what you have to say. Also I plan on growing GHS Super Bud as my mother which is a mostly indica flowering at 8 weeks.

Would anybody know if a 125w cfl would be enough for a mother plant?

You really don't need to veg after your clones get roots; just put them right into flower. Your moms would be fine with half that much light.

WIth only 16 plants would non vegged plant be enough to fill out the 4x4 tent?

That would depend on either the hydro system your using, or your pot size if growing in a medium. 4x4 = 16 square feet. If your using 12 inch diameter pots you could only fit 16. However I think using 9 inch pots would suffice if your not veggin your clones and you could cram in 25 and still average over a zip per plant. If your using hydro, I really don't understand all the logistics involved with all the fancy tables and res's and pumps and pipes and tubes and blah. Good luck brother!

If it were up to me I would say no. . Only because of the circumstances though. If you are trying to cut 8 clones off 1 mother every 2 weeks your going to find that either A. Your going to need a very large mother (needing more light than you suggested) or B. You'll need multiple mothers to rotate cuttings. . I would go with 2-4 mothers and rotate which mother gets cut every two weeks.

Since your only growing one strain I personally see no need to harvest that often. . I would only have a perpetual of that kind If I were doing a larger scale grow with multiple strains that would grow unevenly if grown together.. That being said, I would just have a perpetual harvesting every 4 weeks with that strain. . Doing this you could make it so you don't have to keep mothers. Only clone from clones. . This is what I have been doing and it's working just fine. .

Ya just need to make sure you have room to water/feed.I would kick em straight in it weren't for that.
