My poor baby sprout!! HELP Plz

Ok - I'm a noob.... I have never tried to grow anything in my life!
But I'm desperately trying to save my poor baby sprout - If it's not already too
late! :'( I will try to be brief, I've tried posting this twice with no results.
It suddenly says I'm not logged in... anyway...
I've done alot of research online as well as talked with people who grow and
thought I had a pretty good grasp - but apparently I've been getting some bad info
or something. Found your website and it seems that I have possibly made many
mistakes from the beginning and despite all that, these seedlings have been
fighting to begin their new life!
I'm hoping that someone here can HELP me -- because now I'm so confused!!
One site says to plant the seed so the pointed end is down in the soil....another
site says to plant it so the pointed end is up...and my "helpers" at the time of
planting say, "Just drop em in there, they'll grow upward!" So, I dropped em in
and hoped for the best!
I placed two seeds (unknown strain) into wet paper towels and placed them in a
closed container. It took about 3 days when one of the seeds took right off. It had
a really long taproot...the other seed hadn't done anything, but I planted them
both at the same time anyway into a small greenhouse type grow tray/box and placed
them in my growroom under the lights.
I followed directions from another site for my soil mix - making sure to get the PH
level to 6.5 as it stated to. My mix is:
Miracle Grow Potting Soil w/nutrients 50%
Screened Top Soil 35%
Sand 5%
Muck (Bio- char) 5%
Peet Moss 5%
The lights I'm working with right now are called "Jump Start" High Output T5 light
kit....18 hrs on - 6 off.
By the end of the first day in the soil the seedling had already broke the soil!
The little sprout seemed to be doing very well at first - but looked a little
strange compared to the picture I was looking at.... It seems maybe the seed
cracked wrong or something because the sprout and seed had pushed it's way up to
the top of the soil and the root looked very snake like. I kept a close eye on it
all day long.
The site I was following directions from, said that once I saw the first two leaves
pop out that it was time to remove the dome and make sure it had air circulation
and ventilation -- so I removed the dome. (BTW- My room temp remains between 70-85%
and the humidity between 47-65%) It seemed as the day went on my poor sprout
wasn't looking too healthy...and getting pretty droopy. So I did some more research
and reading and then after studying my sprout a little more, noticed that the shell
casing was stuck/attached to the bottom of the sprout and so as carefully as I
could, I removed the shell and gently put the root down in the dirt - gently
propped up my sprout and hoped for the best!
I also put the dome back on overnight.
When I checked on the sprout this morning, it was standing up all by itself away
from where I had propped it! I thought this was a promising sign and I got excited!
But as the day progressed the two leaves do not seem to want to open - they were
closed together kind of. I checked them a few minutes ago and the two leaves are
practically gone...dried or shriveled or something - but it is still standing and
the stem still appears strong.
Is there anyway to save this poor thing or is it a lost cause???
Thanks for your reading my book... lol and for any replies!

dude....chill out on joints and just give it time....if it dies then it dies. just start over...not like you have invested months of time into it.

its a bag seed, its worthless it might grow to be a male if it isnt sprouting right then try another one,
go online & buy feminised seeds youll have a better success rate try herbies head shop.com or seed madness.com there
pretty cheap. Everything else soil & lights sound good, the only thing i can think of is bad seeds.
It doesnt really matter how you put the seed in the soil it will grow towards the heat & light, dont cover em with anything
and only use fresh water and nutes as directed, make sure lights are atleast 10" above the plant or the plant will stretch or burn.
any questions or concerns just reply back..

alright man chill out you shouldnt of touched the seed casing because they will shed their seed on their own(unless its barely hanging on) u used shitty miracle grow soill and it burnt it up from too many nutrients.and you always plant the tap root down.its the main root you want it to grow into the dirt.you probably over watered it because thats the #1 noob mistake.you only want to mist the soil with a sprayer and keep it moist not soaked.get another seed and try again.plant the root down and use a soiless miox because theres less chance of fukn it up.and dont give it nutrients for a few weeks.just let nature take its course.you know the saying a watched pot never boils? well a watched seedling dosnt grow! let the seed drop off on its own dont touch it and mist the soil every other day not every 5 minutes and once its established it will continue to thrive.

and yes if you have a dome then use it because it will keep the humidity high and sprouts like high humidity.I dunno wtf sour is talkn about.and yes it matters how u plant it because you want less stress on the plant.it will grow down if you plant it up but why stress it?and if using floro lights u can put them an inch from the plant.amd run the light 24-7 because plants dont need "rest" they will grow non-stop.until your ready to flwer then cut to 12-12

So then does that mean that the seedling that is popping through the soil now will die as well??

I'm trying to chill!! lol This is very frustrating for me - and mostly because I'm in a fairly remote area and have trouble getting medication.
Medication that works the right way for me anyway. So, really, until I get my own meds going -- It really very stressful!

I know they take time to grow - lol!! I'm usually good at fixin things -- but I can't seem to save this sprout!

I had the soil mix listed wrong as well -- It should of said
50% of the Miracle Gro (which was recommended from another site)
30% Screened Top Soil
5% Sand
5% Muck
5% Peet Moss
5% Perlite

I posted this same thread with pics in the MI Med Section.

Thanks BTW for all the replies -- But do you see how things can get confusing?

Ive germinated & planted plenty of seeds i no wat tha fuck im talkin bout
using a dome with the light one inch from the plant isnt a good idea the only thing you gonna see
boil is your plant. 24hrs a day should only be used for autoflowers 18/6 is jus right. and yea the plant
does need rest keeps stress off of it. doesnt make it grow any quicker. im not the one asking questions
so dont reply to me. One mans opionin is not fact,, so fuck urself bitch..

I have my light approx 4" above the dome.
im no pro grower. but i freaked out over my seedling being bent over and a little dis-colored.
i found out its normal and the color was genetics.
just dont freak out and stay calm. the seedling looks fine.
the more you mess with it the more its gonna hurt the plant.
its like poking your newborn with something..

lights should atleast be a foot from plant so it wont stretch or stress
are you able to lower and raise your lights?

If you can bring the lights down to atleast a foot and loose the dome your plants could do about
an inch or two a day. you could put em one inch from your plant but your plant grows everyday so not recomended

That plant is way too young, give it a week and it will show you what it can do. Just keep it moist and by this time next week you will be laughing at yourself at how stressed you were over the beginning. Next time, don't pull the seed casing so early the leaves will kick it off.

go with what you fell is best and learn from experience. what i have told you is from my own experience and what
i think will work best. Best of luck to you

The seed casing was stuck on the root end of it -- And it appeared to be suffocating the poor little thing! It was almost drooped right over!
After I took the casing off and propped it up - It was standing by itself this morning -- But the leaves wouldn't open -- and as the day progressed...they look like they've shriveled up -- So I figured with the first two leaves damaged that it was a gonner!!

You will have no problems with a 24 hour light cycle for vegging only.

To save energy some prefer the 16/8

She looks fine! humidity is good, And the dome helps that. The seed coating will stay on the first two leaves for sometime. Be patient

It can make the plant appear damaged, But its 100% natural

Good luck mate.

What's a "seed coating"?? I wish I took a pic when it first popped out! It went from having healthy looking leaves to shriveled up ones.
I hope you're right!!
