Is it possible to have a sea of green and have the plants under 10 inches tall and get "some" yield from each? would a 250watt hps be enough for 10 small plants? is there any cheap (50usd-100usd) hps systems? thanks

May I ask what the point of the carbon filter on the intake fan is? They trap smells, thus their use on exhaust valves, but as far as I know they don't do much of a job for filtering out mold spores, etc... Perhaps you meant hepa filter?

I haven't noticed much change on my bill. maybe 20.00 more a month. I did my shit 24/0 for 2 months then 12/12. I don't trip on power consumption. Unless your growin like 100 + plants then you may have some issues..

Yah 100$ for a 400MH sounds about right, I paid 50$ for ballast & 40$ for bulb 10$ for wireing and base, total 100$. It didn't put up the bill enough to worry about, maybe 20$?

if you can afford it go with a 1000watt combo m/h -hps. Those bitches produce. But I'm using a 400 m/h -hps and it works great. But I will be upgrading to a 1000w.

your right. It just depend on how many plant u r growin'. If yer gonna do like 2-4 plants a 400 will be just fine. They still put off a lot of heat too. So get some fans. Bring in cool air and exhaust the old warm air.

Probably not more then $50.00 a month... however I read somewhere that replacing all the incandescent bulbs in your home with the energy saving compact fluorescent bulbs can help off-set the price increase.

These bulbs are a lot more expensive then the cheapie incandescent ones but they last WAY longer and use less energy. A regular 60 WATT incandescent bulb is replaced with a 13 Watt Compact Fluorescent Bulb. Plus good for the environment.

I have no idea if this is actually true or not... but since I'm waiting for my seeds to arrive anyway ... I've replaced all 57 indoor incandescent bulbs in my house with the Compact Fluorescent Bulbs. I'm anxious to see how much (if at all) my electric bill drops (I have no MH or HPS lights on right now).

Shit! you have a lot of bulbs in yer house! I would change them too if I had 57 of them. That should save enough energy to power up my house.I think i have like15. LMAO!

LOL.....yeah I know..... I own a large home and almost every room has a ceiling fan with 5 bulbs, plus the misc. hallway & laundry room lights. I used to have my sister and niece living with me but now it's just me so at least 4 of the rooms rarely ever have the lights/fans turned on. Even so I was shocked when I sat down and actually counted the number of bulbs in my house.

Oh well... at least now when some environmental nut bitches at me for living in such a large house by myself I can say "STFU all my appliances are energy efficient and EVERY BULB is compact fluorescent!" HAHAHA!
!!
