My New Grow. 2 rooms, Theia & Helio using HID CFL and LED

Hello!

I am assembling my grow rooms this week, I have things ordered and on their way, as well as some seeds from attitude.

I'm going to be using a two tent set up:

Theia
the Veg/Mother/Clone tent

will be a Secret Jardin 120w (about 4x2)

I'm using a high end coral reef light. It is a 250w MH bulb with a 20k kelvin super blue bulb, supplemented with 4 High Output T5 flouros and 3 Blue LED lights, all combined in a sleek 3 foot unit with a built in fan.

I'm kind of experimenting with this light, we'll see how it does...

I will, in the next few day's order a stealth grow SG602 LED light.

I've never grown with LED but this light is supposed to be amazing. A little but of experimenting here but I think we can get some great plants out of this grow.

The 602 is comparable to a 1000W HPS light (so they say)

I'm cleaning up the space and i'll be assembling Theia tomorrow! I'll keep everyone updated, and please feel free to comment, ask questions or make suggestions!

Put the order for the secret jardin 120w yesterday. Gonna pick it up tomorrow at noon along with everything else I need to set up the veg tent. Will update again in about 24 hours

Don't waste your money on the SG602!!! Whatever you do, lol. Its a 300w panel with a 600w sticker on it. They draw like 307 watts on a meter, the 7 is prob the power supply. Look at my panels in my signature, then look at the SG602, lol.

Already ordered it! gah. Anyways Greners.com has an unconditional 90day return, so I can use it for a cycle and see what I think. They have some explanation for the wattage too

*LED wattage is calculated by the number of chips multiplied by the wattage of that chip. However, this number does not represent the actual wattage draw of Stealth Grow LED light panels. In most cases the actual wattage draw is considerably less than the traditionally calculated wattage.*

I don't really understand it, but oh well. Where are your panels from? and how much are the one's you're selling? maybe I'll have another flower room to do some consumer testing...

My panels are made in China with CREE USA made diodes. They are blowing smoke up your ass if thats what they told you the reason for advertising a 600w panel when it's really only 300w. I can get you a 300w to your door for less than half of what you paid for that SG.

No they're not saying that's the reason. They calculate the wattage the same you do with your panels, LED chip wattage x number of LED's. Your 900 has 288 3W so it's a "900watt unit" what's the actual wattage draw on your unit?

The SG602 has 288 2watt chips, and claim it's a 600watt. The only difference is they say the unit pulls only 300w because

"Our 2-watt chip products feature a step-up transformer to reduce the actual power draw without losing intensity" Which appealed to me, because I'm trying to save energy costs.


How much better is a 3 watt chip over a 2 watt chip? Definitely interested in your 900W unit

We run our panels at 100%, so our 3w chips draw 3 watts. 288 x 3w = 864w on any meter. What they are doing in reality is running their 2w chips at 50% power so their non-cooled mainboard doesn't fry in a year. They have fans blowing through the unit, mine have a heatsink mainboard with fans passing through...

So my tent came in, and there was a big cut through the tent! Someone sliced it while cutting open the box it would seem. So the guy at my local hydro store are really nice about it, and helping me out a lot with my set up.

I'm picking up some clones tomorrow, I want to get two strains, and a few clone of each. Here are my options:

Green crack, bubba kush, blueberyy, blackberry kush, Skywalker OG, Blue Dream, and Sour D


Which two do you think I should get? I want to get plants that thrive under similar growing conditions since they're growing together.

dude i got blackberry kush recently and it was unreal. i cant say how it grows but it smokes great

They all look really healthy and no bugs


I don't have time to set up my whole grow room right now, I gotta watch UFC 118 of course. Got the girls under some cfls in my bedroom...


ALSO went to Fry's and picked up a Hakko Presto workin well

What did that Hakko run you? I think I need one -)

it was $29 at Fry's, 6 dollars for the coil base. I got the Hakko Presto, it has variable temp control so it's not always red hot Hacked sawed the metal tip so it still has some structural integrity, instead of having it completely exposed

Sick bro... I am def getting one now... I am using beeline right now, but I think this would be a better option in the long run

Long time no update, sry if anyone was interested.


Burnt the clones with the 20,000k bulb. I would not suggest anyone use aquarium bulbs. I switched the bulb to a 250w 6500k, and added two flouro set ups. I've got new girls growing and they look very happy.
