my money-making venture (hell, gotta start somewhere)

well, jobs are scarce so a lot of young dudes my age are looking for a hustle- an euntreprenurial way to make some money. I've been working at UPS' seasonal position for the past few weeks and that will end soon (the 24th) so in the meantime I sensed another quick-money opportunity- kindling wood

my neighbor down the street had a serious landscape-makeover about a year ago and cut down tons of trees- he's had the brush/logs piled up now for a while...so I figured I'd take it all off his hands- cut it with the chainsaw, split it with an axe, and bundle it up with hemp-string....sell em for $3 each, 2 for $5.

I haven't done this since middle school when my dad would drive me to church parking lots or little league baseball games where I'd set up shop and sell kindling wood...but in tough times you do what you gotta do so stack your loot up right?

like any business, make sure you have customers before you do the work... how much kindling do you think you could sit on and for how long???

this is just a quick hustle experiment...very little thought of overhead costs (fuel for instance)...but nevertheless just somewhat, as mentioned, of a workout. gonna park my truck in a church parking lot sunday morning, nice bright sign i made, and see what kinda interests i attract

you could say i'm lookin to....go fishing on sunday...that is, if the storm doesnt hit that day

5 bucks for 2 BUNDLES....not a log. it's kindling wood. READ:?

yes i like lemonade stands too...but it's winter...which prob wouldn't make that very profitable

rule numero uno: the euntrepreurial spirit has no shame and pride doesn't interfere with vision

while some may view a lemonade stand (or for that matter, a kindling wood stand) as childish or lame...that does nothing to obstruct the vision or ambitions of the one pursuing the vision

got 45 bundles cut, tied up and sittin in the back of the truck...gonna cut and rope up another few bundles before headin out into the public on sunday. maybe i'll get a head-start and sit somewhere saturday

thanks for the comments...pictures to follow? we'll seeee

I did read. the way your post sounded you "bundled" up 2 logs.
Yes, dont let anyone bring you down. Be your own boss, dont listen to anyone but yourself, and youll make money

outside the "mall" or whatever vaguely mall-like area you have is a good idea, as is hiring some cute kids to sell for you (like boy/ girl scout type and age: give em some pizza and they'll be there all day long) that way folks think it is fundraising for whatever... good luck...

A better thing maybe is to hunt thru others trash,
And find Nickle cans...
You may even score some half eaten food
If your lucky.

I used to sneak into the backside of the scrap yard and steal scrap metal, then go around front and sell it back to them when I was a kid

i do save cans at my house....whenever I have parties and ppl drink beers and such...I redeem the cans for upwards of $100-$150 bucks per single TRIP every 2 months or so. is it frugal? maybe. is it smart? yes

you paint a picture of me as if I'm a homeless man left out in the cold, scrounging through trash...

yet you sound like the one whose spirit is cold... my product offers warmth and comfort to others

maybe you need to buy some of my kindling wood?
