My hard work

This will be about my current crop and a little about my past semi jokable crop. I first tried growing MJ about 5 months ago. I went to walmart and bought four 8 or something ridiculously low wattage flouros put them into a 2'x2'x4' old dresser that I ripped the shelves out of. Glued aluminum foil to the insides and ceiling of the dresser. Clipped a 6in fan, planted 9 bagseed, and we were off. I germed the 9 bagseeds first by placing them in a glass of water for about a week to 10 days. I was using MG organic soil no nutes and tap water that sat for 24hrs. I'm still havesting/drying/curing the last of these that was female. Out of the 9 I got 4 female worth keeping. Here's some pics of that grow.

Ok so now for the current set of ladies:weed:. Since then after soaking in as much as I could from this board and what ever informative thing I could come across, I have upgraded some.

I built a tent of sort out of a 10'x25' sheet of black and white poly. I just ran it in a 5'x8'x5' square and stapled the four corners to the ceiling and floors. With a little duct tape everything seems to be holding great. I added a cool mist humidifier inside the tent and the temps/humidity stay at 76-81F and 30-45% humidity.

I mounted a 400w hps light with a MH conversion bulb from HTGsupply for vegging. Using Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil with a small bag of perlite added to it. Fox Farm trio nutes with some open sesame, cha cing, and molasses for later. The local hydro store threw the cha ching and sesame in for free so I got about 100 grams of each.

I placed a 12" circulating fan in the room for cooling and to help strengthen the stems. I used my smaller 6" clip on fan and hung it from the ceiling to use as forced exhaust. Made two 4" intake vents using dryer ducting and ran them to the circulating fan from a nearby window. Three 4" exhaust holes with only the one being blown out of, the rest are passive.

I ordered 4 fem seeds from The Attitude plus 1 free fem G13labs WW and 5 free G13labs Super Skunk. I ordered Barneys Farm G13 Haze, Dutch Passion BB, Paradise Seeds WhiteBerry, and Big Buddha Cheese. They all arrived within 10 days and I proceeded to germ them. Still in a cup of water but this time with ph 5.5 water. Once they cracked I placed them in rapid rooters then inside a mondi humidity dome and once they started to peek out of the rooters I turned the MHconversion on them at 18/6 and it has been that way since. Will be 3 weeks Sat since they first showed out of the dirt.

I have kept the lights about 10" from the tops maybe even a little less then that. Been giving them the first 2 weeks of nutes and Fimmed all of them except for the Haze last night. Here are some pics of the room and girlies also a link where I already posted some younger pics. https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/167984-just-babies.html The last pic is of my rottenwieller.

Thanks so much to rollitup and everyone on here for all the information I picked up over the last 8 months or so. Still got alot to learn and any comments are welcome.

Updated pics. Will be 4 weeks old Saturday 3/21/09.

In the last pic you can see my try at LST. Does this look correct? I FIM'ed them all but the Haze atleast I think I did. I tried cutting the new growth of the 3rd or 4th node about 75% back. Do these plants look FIM'ed correctly from these pics? I can get closer to the tops if needed. Also any opinions on when I should flower. Was thinking of trying to take some cuttings this week and start 12/12 next Monday.

I took 4 cuttings from the G13Haze and 1 cutting each from the WB and BBC. Used some Schultz Takeroot last Sat but still don't have roots. I placed them in the humidity dome and put all of the plants under 24/7 light for the last week. I think this cloning powder is just not good for MJ or maybe its me.

I didn't notice the FIM'ing doing as I wanted it to so I tried topping the 4 that I FIM'ed last week. Maybe I was just impatient with the FIM'ing but none of the top 4 young growth shoots were doing anything. It seemed like they were just staying tucked against the main stem. All 4 of the plants did bush out alot on the bottom 2 or 3 nodes but with the top 2 nodes not doing anything at all I was nervous of losing alot of yield. Switching them to 12/12 tonight. I also transplanted them into 5gal buckets. Never intended on doing this but got the buckets for a good deal (2$) and rolled with it.

Updated pics.

Mon was 2 weeks into flowering and here are some updated pics. 2 of my 6 clones finally rooted sometime last week and I decided to plant the 5 freebie super skunk seeds. They are still small and undetermined sex but I'm just going to experiment a complete 12/12 grow with them then clean my room up and redesign the whole op. I'm feeding the larger ones tiger bloom open sesame and big bloom right now. Going to add molasses to the feeding schedule with the next feeding.

Looking real nice so far
. I would keep lsting and look into trimming up the bottom 1/3 of the plant.

Hope you get a good result from the freebies...nothing better then when that happens. I got a current grow of Pure Gold from attitude going, so far their seeds have been real good to me...hope the same for you. Good luck, will be watching!

Thanks guy. I can't wait to see these finish also where I am from it is very rare to see any good smoke. I have never actually seen a specific strain or anything close to these and I hve been smoking for about 15yrs now.

I have added another large 16in circulating fan for flowering also tried the yeast/sugar co2 method. Been feeding them molasses with every watering and bloom nutes every other. I still mix some N nutes in there and the plants seem to like it.

I tried cutting off some of the lower branches from the blueberry. Basically cutting off anything that looks real scrawny from not getting enough light. I hope it gives the tops more energy for growth. The blueberry showed me some possible signs of male pollen sacks today. I cut them off but my camera isn't good enough to get pics of them.

Cleaned my room up and I am fighting nats right now. I added a red pitcher and a sundew both are carnivorous plants. They did bring the number of nats down but can't keep them completely under control.

1 of the 5 freebies super skunk died on me from stretching and falling over. The other 4 look good and are in pics. The 2 clones are doing well and I took 2 more cutting from the BB.

I am babysitting for a friend its the plant in the brown pot. Looks like its in real bad shape to me was purplish when I got it from low temps and he has cut all the large fan leaves off. Here's some updated pictures.

There's a few things I have been thinking about.

First is that I have a window AC unit in the room, 2 16" circulating fans and a cool mist humidifier. The fans and humidifier stay on with the lights. Without the AC running, the lights 12" or so from the tops, temps can get as high as 83F. I can turn the AC unit on and keep the room at a steady 70-75F during the light hours but as you can imagine this raises my electric bill and the outside temps right now do not explain an AC running 12-24hrs a day or at all really. I think its a high of 50F outside today lol. Is it worth it to keep the AC on and pay the extra electric and maybe suspicion or just let the temps go up to 83F.

Second is I thought the big buddha cheese was an indica dominant plant but it is flowering as slowly as the g13haze which is sativa dominant. These 2 are flowering about 5-7 days later then the rest. Not a problem just wondering if anyone has experience with the BBC. It's got me interested, I first thought it would be more indica couchlock type but maybe not.

Third and most important is what's going on with this G13haze....I think its over feeding but not sure maybe over watering? I give all 5 of the big girls 24oz of water/nutes each, every 2-3 days, mixing between nutes and just molasses water every other waterings. PH stays at 6.5-7 run off comes out 7. I use to have run off come out at 4-5 so I raised the feeding ph lately to the 6.5-7 range was using 5.8-6.5. Any suggestions, opinions, or ideas would be appreciated. Pics are of BBC and G13.

Well it's been 16 day's since my last update. Not to much has changed but they are all budding up very nice! I broke one of the blueberry's tops and had to use duct tape to repair her. I was trying to bend her top down a little bit and her branch cracked away from the main stem, hopefully she will be okay.

Got 2 BB clones rooted and added to the room, The 4 wimpy skunks are looking small and frail. I am just glad I didn't pay for those seeds. I'm sure they will turn out ok they just lack some light. I have them placed very far from the hps. Also added six 14 watt cfls to the grow.

Here's some updated pics. You can see my new cfls how I tie down my LST to the rim of the buckets and a few close ups of the sexy white berry camera is not the best but enjoy. :weed:

Had a bit of a photo shoot today with the ladies. Also took some pics of my toys and other random things my wife and I found interesting. Would love for some guesstimates on yield if that's possible at this stage. Tomorrow 5/4/09 they will be 6 weeks into 12/12. I am hoping to get 2oz dry per plant, that would be nice. I'm getting really anxious about these beautiful girls. Hope you enjoy and as always comments are welcome in my journal. :joint:

More pics. Also like to add smell hasn't been an issue so far. The plants have strong smells to them but it's not really going out of my tent. Am I lucky or is it still early and the worst is ahead of me?

I have went ahead and sealed the room from the outside other then the window AC. Figure with that turned on during the whole 12hr the lights are on they get enough fresh air. Other than that tho i have not done any real odor controlling. I built some activated carbon filters from aquarium carbon but have not tried using them. bongsmilie

Thanks for the comments. I got my fingers crossed for harvest time and hope there's alot of trimming involved. It's just such a shame it's all fiction. :bigjoint:

On another note I am thinking of adding a carbon filter, another 600w and air cool that with my 400w in a single dual light cool tube. I would place the fan in between the filter and the tube have it sucking air in from filter and blowing it through the lights ending outside my tent. Something like this. Would that work? I don't have any experience with inline fans and filters. :joint:

We took the girls to the beach. Trying to fight gnats I covered the soil with a layer of sand and have some sticky traps in the room. I hope this helps, they are getting out of hand.

On another note I think my BB is hermie'ing. My wife found what we believe to be pollen sacs growing inside one of the top buds but not showing up any where else on the plant. We decided to leave it in the room. So we inspect it every day and try to pluck them all off before they open. It has some seed pods but very few and only on the one bud. None of the other plants are showing signs of hermie or pollenation(seeds)

Also I am not sure when to start using just water or flushing them. The White Berry looks like she's getting done but not sure how much longer before I should flush. I'm waiting for mostly or all amber trichs before I cut but I don't want to start a 2 week flush before she is ready so I'm just waiting. Saturday will be 8 weeks since the lights turned 12/12 but only 6 or 7 since they started showing flowers.

Here's some updated pics. Got some close shots of the buds hope you enjoy and let me know what ya think. :joint:

Looking real good!!:weed:
Nice fat tops. How many of the trichs are changing now? If your looking every day you should notice a patern of how fast they change. Maybe? Just a thought from nother noob.:peace:
