You have any better quality pics? I'm leaning towards contam.
for some strange reason, legitimate mycelium will almost always become evident on the ends of individual kernels, rather than on the center. I have often wondered about that. Also, most often contamination tends to grow indiscriminitly, so odds are, even in a bad picture, if we see growth eminating from the center of the kernel, and we see the growth down from the surface of the grain, it is contamination. Beyond that, it doesn't look particularly white. I agree, Sonar, With your assessment.

That jar is full of trich man. You can see it sporulating in at least 3 different places.

You should look into picking up a pressure cooker if you plan on working with grains.

Healthy cubensis mycelium looks like this. A few jars of ecuador on wbs in various stages of growth.

Did you finally get a pressure cooker? I can tell you that in my experience mushroom tek is not easy, even with a pressure cooker. No matter what I did, I still got contaminated! You definitely NEED to get a pressure cooker if you want to do this. I am gearing up to try again. I am going to run a big hepa filter in the room this time. I live in an old house, and no matter how well I clean or spray with Lysol, there is still something that is contaminating my jars....so frustrating.
