I recently received two plants from my friend he could not take care of them anymore, they just started flowering. Any advice tips? ill take anything i don't want these plants dying on me i got them in my closet with 2 fluorescent bulbs on them and a fan to circulate the air, I've been doing about 12 hours of light 12 of dark and its amazing how much of a diff. i see everyday when i wake up and find the buds have grown. Is there a special kind of light i should use, any kind of nutrients i can give them to help them? This is the first time I've had plants this far along.

If you can get some multi-bulb t5's (like 4-8 tubes), or better yet a 400-600w hps or mh they will probably produce more potent bud, but where you kinda got this thrown at you, that might be more investment than you want unless you plan to continue growing. Plant bulbs are good, but really anything with around 3000 kelvin is best for flowering. 6500 kelvin is around where you want for veg, or in both you can mix the two spectrum (there's a lot of debate about proper spectrum, but really all ways are viable, I'd focus more on hitting the 'rules of thumb' to start, then you can tweak once you have the process down better).

12/12 is what you want for flowering, and a nutrient mix high in potassium and phosphate. Some will taper down nitrogen some will cut it out all together. Either way most people will 'flush' the plant in the last 2 weeks of flowering. This period is in the harvest stage, and there is a whole forum here dedicated to harvesting and curing. This includes how to tell when they are ripe and ready to harvest, as well as how to dry and cure. A big part of nutrients is PH as well, so get a PH meter ($6-15) for soil, and do a search for ph lockout, there are a number of good charts here that show how PH effects different nutrient absorption.

ok so ive decided to go HPS there is a hydro store by where i live and there selling i nice one for 150 how many watts would i need for two plants, also it looks like they just started flowering, how long does this process take? or does it flucuate depending on conditions and the plant

Without getting too technical 50watts per square foot is about the min to aim for. 2 plants should do ok with 150 watter, more is always better. The light is the food and the nutes are the steroids. The flowering process is a wild variable, 7 weeks to 6 months, lol. People have different ideas of when a plant is 'done' as well. Early harvest (milky tricomes) gives 'rushier' weed, later harverst (amber tricomes) yields long naps on the couch. You'll have to search around th RIU forums and make a decision for yourself when you think they are ready.

Transfer the pictures to this thread and you will get a better answer to your questions by myself and fellow growers. It's easier to post pics on here rather than have growers doing donkey work searching other threads for pictures of your plants then reporting back here. We can help but first you must help us.

Good luck tho.
