My First PC Grow... CFL

Hi,

This is my first post so yay me! lol

But anyways, cut to the chase:
I don't know where I came up with the idea to do this, but I looked the concept up on youtube, and sure enough everybody else was doing it. I would do an all outoperation in my closet, but that is currently out of the question for a few more years.

So I'm a computer technician so I have some cases laying around so I built this thing and it's nice. I'm considering butting a 6 inch fan on the cover. I'm growing a seed that germinated of my last batch of germs and I'm starting another. The're random seeds I grab from my bags of weed which vary in strength and quality. I'm considering ordering some trainwreck or something berry-ish.

THE DESIGN:
It's a computer by acer, I don't have the dimensions and I would get them, but my plant is sleeping until 2 o'clock today. I have 4 light sockets anchored down to the case, and two fans; one in the front, one int the back. They have aquarium activated carbon filters. The mylar I'm using is made out of the thing you put in your windshield to keep the sun out. I made a makeshift cover that folds upward. everything is held together by aluminum tape, and machine screws. The lights are arranged two on top, and two on bottom.

The Grow:

Right now, I'm still in the germination stage, I have one of my seedlings in the box already, I'm going to put up the pictures the moment I upload them.

What are the temps in there dude? There so sensitive at this stage...looks like shes being burnt?

As of right now, I only have two bulbs running. The pictures of the plant itself were taken as sooon as I took it out of my germination tray and put it in the soil. My lights just turned on som my plant should be awake by now and I'm about to snap some pictures. But yeah as far as temperature goes, I'm going to pick up a digital thermometer when I go to pick up my clay pots, soil, and my earth juice.

It's day 2, my plants woke up around 1 oclock, feeding time was 8:30 am only because I woke up late. 2nd feeding was 5:30, and it was looking like it had some progress. I'm putting up some pics that I took earlier. My photoshop is acting up so I will try to have the pics up tomorrow.

Ok, so here's the dealio..

I took your word for it, ripped her out, and replaced her with 2 other germs that I made.

In my next post, I will describe the status of the plants!

Hey man. Im scribed. Doing a PC grow myself.

PC case looks good. But you should seperate those plants now while you can. You never want two plants in the same pot, roots will get tangle up and they'll fight for space, water, and nutes.

Also you mentioned feeding them. Water? I hope so, their way too young to be getting nutes. Wait till the round leaves die off to introduce nutes.

I don't have enough room for two pots. I have the sockets for the 2 extra lights on the bottom. I haven't turned those 2 on yet, as I think it is too early in the veg state. But once the plant is off it's stilts (a bunch of hardrives that I stacked on top of one another so that my preciouses could be as close to the light as possible), I will turn on the second 2. By the way, my electric bill has gone up $10 a month with just the 2 bulbs going, so I'm really pondering whether or not to turn # 3 and 4 on. Does anybody know how much it takes to get a red flag from FPL? So as for keeping the plants in the same pot, do you think I could get away with a consistent watering schedule? Currently, I am watering them once a day at 5:30 pm as not to rot the roots. Maybe when they get bigger, I'll upgradethe watering to twice a day.

I treated the soil with earth juice before the plants went in it as I didn't know how good the soil was. But I need to buy some more Earth Juice asap for my vegetable garden outside. BTW, speaking of EARTH JUICE, whats everyones opinion on that stuff? It works like magic in my vegetable garden. Also, when is a good time to start the magnesium sulfate schedule?

Do what furbi said...seperate the 2 plants....maybe get smaller pots......your only going to have problems trust me been down that path....i used to do pc grows & I was able to do 2 seperate plants in one pc case.....then I went to home depot and bought the husky storage box and now i can do 4 plants in one cabinet...no nutrients yet wait till you get 3 or 4 nodes before you do...as for earth juice..never used it.. i guess it couldn't hurt...get foxfarm soil its the best.. you can use miracle grow i never had a problem with it..Other than that everything looks good...Happy Growing

I changed the time to 12/12 since no one came in to say anything. So the lights go out at 3 a.m and come back on at 3 p.m. That way my plants are plenty awake by the time I get home from work. I'm considering ordering some trainwreck indica seeds but i'll let you know further on that come time.

Being that today is saturday, I was productive. I uninstalled the two lights from the bottom, and put one of them on the top. so the case now has 3 lights on top. I went to home depot, and bought a pot that is identical to the one I already have, some Miracle Grow Sphagnum Peat Moss. The peat moss is slightly acidic or so I heard. Any suggestions? So I took both plants out of the pot, rolled the soil ball as not to damage the roots. (thats what killed my last outdoor grow) The root systems were both at least 7 inches long and looking beautiful. So I put them in their individual pots and put the peat moss in. I put them In the environmental unit (lol), and waited for the lights to come on. Then I watered them. I have 3 lights running for the next couple of hours, because it's cold out, and I cant find a variable resistor for the fans. Should I unplug them?

and to close this off, I am going to come up with names this weekend.

The weed that came in today was a mango strain, and it is so sticky! :leaf:

yeah man.. if you are gonna keep it in that box i would go ahead and continue with the 12/12... that is what i did with mine and i managed to keep my baby alive... i will however be finishing off the grow in my micro box soon and i have decided to resort to this box as a micro reveg box after i harvest...your box looks good though... oh yeah, if it is a predominantly sativa strain you mite end up having to top... that would also double your yeild... just an idea, you can do what you want with it... it is your plant after all... and whatever you do, you will learn from it... so whatever is clever homie... research research research.... that is the best way to gain knowledge... i almost didnt even post my grow as a journal, but figured i could learn alot more form other peoples advice... feel free to ask me any advice... i am a newb at growing, but i have read months and months on the subject matter and will be finishing my first succesful grow thursday... that is when i plan on harvesting at least... i wont smoke my shit till thanksgiving though... that is when i truly complete my grow... when i pack my first cured bud... oh man... it will be so amazing... i have never smoked my own shit before... so yeah.. cant muh fuccin wait....

i dont know if i inspired this pc grow box shit, but it is taking off hella fast and it seems like micro grows are now a new trend... i fuccin love it... it doesnt matter how big the plant will be, or how much yeild you will get... because you grew it... and growing enough eighths in these small homemade boxes will pay you back for what you have spent... as long as you know the box works... keep it in service to pay you back... deuce deuce and keep it green nuccah...

lookin real good man.. i really need to get a bigger case... the depth of my box is only 3.5 inches... so i cant really mount my lights like that... but i will build a better box soon... i have one of those super small dell cases...

Well here's my super duper contribution to you. My nephew is the tech student at the local high school and he informs me that they're doing surplus right now. What that means is that they're sending all of the outdated technology to the county. Once the county receives them, they sell them for outrageously cheap prices. You can call them up and find out what they have and make some bids. My nephew has been telling me about some ancient servers that his schools is getting rid of (that's how i make my living is building servers) and these things are huge. 28x18x32 and the thing has wheels, and a million fans. He says they haven't left the school yet, but when they do, I'll let you know whats up and how much they want. He also told me that there is 2 of them and they're both from the late 90's so you know they're huge.! :!:

man im loving ur grrow iim not doing a pc case but intend on keeping em small and doing 12/12 from seed.
listen to micro grow he knows his stuff he has a micro grow and its like tiny but looks killer bud.
