hey everyone,

the subject says it -- i have two 22 gallon storage totes each filled with 17.5 gallons of water = 35 gallons in my little contraption. there is a water pump that runs a 1/2" water out line inside of an 1-1/2" pvc line that i built. the pvc connects to the totes via a bulkhead that i improvised and the pump does not run constantly -- just for a half an hour every 2 hours to help move the nutrients around a little more. i have four small air stones in each reservoir that are powered by the smallest commercial air pump -- i might meander to the store and get 8 large air stones because that would really wreak havoc on those roots.

I would swap out to black air tubing when you get a chance moisture in your airline can cause algae to grow and clear tubing is easy breeding ground.

Good looking start. I'd getthe power bar off the floor though. When there's water around it's always a good idea to keep power off the floor.

very nice! I've been thinkin about trying a hydro/aero setup and upon my research DWC seems to be the complete package....

how many can you fit in one of those things. Is six the max, what if did a SOG with little veg time???

This grow is very similar to my first indoor grow. I had two totes. one had four pods with hydro rocks, and the other had six. The problem i found with this was spacing. The inability to get light to all of the plant, and the plants can't grow to their potential when being so close together. When its possible for an experienced grower to get the same yield as you out of two plants in each tote... maybe even more. This is great experience though. It taught me a ton. I noticed you said you put 17 gallons in each? I kept between 5-8 gallons just to make sure the pump was well covered. Then the pump dispersed the water to tubes which watered each pod. It worked well.

Im Subscribed.. I hope this works out for ya man.

Keep us updated

thanks for the feedback! yeah it seems to be going pretty well -- before i built this i had a little aeroponic bucket that i had built that was growing them but obviously was not doing the trick. i think that after i get off work tomorrow or maybe during lunch ill run and get some black air tubing and move the power strip onto my little grow stand.

about the water level... currently i have 3-3/4" net pots (they seem heavier duty than the regular 3" and are cheaper than the 3" heavy duty net pots in my area) and i have the water level maybe 4" down from the top so the water is just barely in the bottoms of the pots. my question is -- how close does the water level need to be to the bottoms of the pots?

hey home grower -- im really not sure how well this is going to work. i have a hunch they are going to be too cramped in here but what i am sort of aiming for right now is to find a few good mothers so in the future ill just need to cut new holes in some lids. the pots with the small straws are a strain i have been buying for awhile, the pot with the large straw is the widow and all the other ones are a jamaican/afghani mix. i hope to have some good progress within the next couple days!

How can selling something on a forum be "against the law"? Against forum rules, maybe, but agains the law? Hmmmm....

it's no biggie i was just trying to offer a way to save some cash to some people -- an EZ Cloner at $300ish seems a litttle outrageous where i can make a 14 site and sell it for $80.

You will want your mother to be from soil :)

They sale them on craigslist, but start a thread or drop me a email with a link of your system so I could take a look in case I may want to buy one. And yes the EZ Cloner is mass expensive.

oh why do you say that???
WORD ! Why is that ? That's like saying your bud should only be grown in soil too.

yeah flo grow i was actually thinking about using 5 gallon drinking coolers but just couldn't justify spending the money on them at the moment. as long as i run the pump only ever so often it doesn't generate enough heat to affect the water temperature. i initially was going to use the pump inline but i really just don't trust those barbed fittings that much lol.

my next design is going to be two rectangular coolers -- the excellent part about coolers is that their lids are about an 1" thick which means you can use a self-feed bit and make a counter-sunk insert for net pots.
