My first hash run, what went wrong?

Hello everyone, just dropping in to ask a question!

Today I took the dried and frozen (dried for about 5 days, still on the bud. clipped off, and stored in freezer for 3ish days) trim I had saved from my harvest and tried to make some bubble hash.

I have bags from Growace (http://growace.com/1-gallon-bubble-bags-8-bag-set.html), and had a little problem afterwards that probably would have made me throw any has I got out anyway. We will get to that later!

So, I stacked the bags and threw my trim in. Filled it up to a little above the trim with cold filtered water, then threw a shitload of ice in it. Mixed for about 15 minutes with a wooden handle from a cooking spoon. Then set in fridge and let it sit for about 45 minutes.

After waiting I pulled the bags and noticed very little in any of the screens. What little I did see, I could not scrape off the mesh. I turned the bag inside out and stretched it over a Tupperware container to give me some leverage and everything, but I could not scrape it off. I ended up just washing the bags out and cleaning them up.

The bucket I had was full of green water, so I tried to just pour that directly into my smallest micron bag but it didnt give me anything visible. I ended up dumping it all out and cleaning up.

That leads me to the problem that I mentioned early on. I took the first bag that had all the trim and ice and went to dump it outside. When I turned it out I noticed that tucked in the seam at the bottom of the bag where the mesh meets the side of the bag there were about 20 tiny round green spiders. Straight up spiders in this brand new bag of Growace Bubble Bags :( Not really an issue since I didnt get any hash anyway, but just a warning - be sure you inspect the bags right out of their container and give them a good shaking xD you might have some unwanted friends that hitched a ride along to your house!

Now, any idea why I didnt get any hash? I didnt have much trim, so I think that might be it - I just want to be sure that I didnt fuck up somewhere for when I try again in the future.

Thanks!

Heh ^^ thanks for the tutorial, Chewberto.

I used sugar leaves, and smaller popcorn buds that had formed near the bottom of my plant. I had green streaks on the micron mesh, I just couldnt get it to amount to anything. I tried scraping with a spoon, but it just look like the stuff got pushed into the net more so I ended up washing it all out lol.

The whole concept of sieving in/with ice water is to use the water to shake and collect the trichomes, for that you need a LOT of ICE COLD water and not a ton of ice that just crunch the material together.
Your problem is due to a bad ration Trims - Water - Ice

Frenchy, have you used a thermometer to see how cold your water is? I always wondered what a good temp was, I coulda sworn someone said ~36f but I can't recall...
