my first grow

so i have been studying, watching videos reading thread after thread and ive started my firrst grow. i plan on getting noting from this so no hopes will be let down. so i have a closet that is cut off so it is w4ft h6ft d3ft. i cant go out and buy more light so dont tell me i need more i know you always need more. but i have (all cfl) 1. 20w 6500k 1025 lmn/ 2. 23w 6500k 1450 lmn/ 2. 26w 2700k 1600 lmn/ 4. 42w 2700k 2800 lmn/ and 1 68w 2700k 4200 lmn. which is 22,525 lmns. it is about one month from the time i put the seeds in the soil. the soil by the way is nothing special 1 dollar for 5 lbs. no nutes. which leads to orchid plus 20-14-13 for the veg and orchid better bloom 11-35-15 for flower. ive seen alot of technique (im stoned and cant spell) but the only one that seems to be what i want is butterfly-ing. if you look in my pics there is a plant that looks like it has 2 butterflies on it. after a few days of the leafs life i will trim them off and leave only the 4 out of the 5/7/9 i cliped all the fan leaves above the point where new tops can come out of the joints/ nodes. ive made sure to leave the lights about 1-2 inches away from the plants at all time 24/0 light cycle. no job or nothin so always here to make sure leaves dont burn. as you can see i cut the shit out of these plants and they arnt lookin bad every plant has been trimmed down to nothing but 2 butterflies and the few day older ones are lush with only top (???) cola budding branches. each plant has at least 6 tops and are only about 3 inches tall. i didnt have enough money for more pots or anything so 7 plants in one big pot and 5 in a smaller one. i know plants need room to grow but i need money for food. (all is bagseed) but 3 in the big pot are shity homegrown crap that was name brand before my buddy got to it, somthin like herbal emrald. in the lil pot is papaya haze. so if any one has any tips on my lil grow please post it up. i will be posting every 2-7 days as i have nothing else to do.

What is the butterfly thing supposed to accomplish? And, are you suggesting that cutting off the fan leaves causes the little shoots at the node to grow more? I've never heard of either of those things, but am always happy to gain knowledge.

Cheers, and happy growing!

from alot of different things that people have done to their plants its always ment to get more light to the inside bits of the plant and grow more tops. to make sure that the inner nodes get light all fan leaves are removed only aftera few days. after a few trimmings the plant only has 4 leaves on the top and are in a formation that looks like a butterfly. this will stunt upward groth and focuses more on the branches that produse more tops. ohh and y th way i have no XP at all this is just an experiment. if i kill all the plants and get nothing its fine. but i have trimmed the plants in a spiral and the plant that has been through all of the torture is thriving even if a lil stunted.

Your plants must really dislike you. Where did this butterfly technique originate from? Also you say you have done a lot of research, who recommended 6 plants in one pot?

no one really like i said its more for the experiment than the actual weed as i am moving to colorado in a few months. the butterfly is just crap that i have put together. i have read posts and watched vids about extreme pruning its just a diff form of that. they always say get online and find out what other people are doin and how it works out before you do anything. i say fuck that if your stuborn and you want to see how far you can push you plants before they go hermie or just up and die go ahead. also seeing as everything is bag seed and i was going to grow right when i get to denver (6 legal plants per person- 2 of us- and the lady only smokes an O a year-yay)

ohhh i was very high and just thought that they looked like butterflies dont know if there is a name for the type of clipping i was doing. and yes lets in just enough light to the inner nodes. and such all my lights are cfl and will not be able to get any diff ones i got to make sure the plants get every drop of the light. no first hand XP just every one says cfls suck at getting light past the canopy. what better way to get light in than clipping off just what you need to

i cant. i have no money no more soil no pots. in the closet are strawberries tomatoes radish catnip and lavender. the only way that my lady would let me do som experiments on weed plants is if i also grow her some stuff. there is no room for more pots anyway. but like i said im not growing for any weed. if i get even 1 gram i got more than i was trying for. this is my first grow i have no hopes for anything at all. this is just a learning and experimenting venture. so the plants are bagseed, that means that roughly 50% of them could be males. that been noted im guessin that there will only be around 2-4 in the big pot and 1-3 in the lil pot after i start the flowering stage and find out who is who

Man you really cant have them growing in the same pot, the roots will get tangleed and make transplanting impossible, i learned that the hard way along time ago, the plants need alot of root room, and when will effect your yield majorly, its simple you want plant to grow, the roots need room to grow, the whole butterfly thing i belive i know what you are talking about i just have never herd it called this, really its not good always chopping all fan leaves off, this stress's your plant and the last thing you want is hermies! I know you say you are limited on money and cannot but light, so i hate to have to tell you this but i do not believe you will be able to get these plants to the flowering stage, next time place in small pots 1 plant= 1 pot, and transplant over time, it is simple once roots have established a nice system, if your trying to grow "as many plants" as you can for the space provided, scratch that idea and focus on 1 or 2 good plants...thats my advice from what im looking at in your pics....i know this is not what you were really asking but i like to try to help, so i hope something here helped you, good luck!!!!!!!!

well the best i could do was get some dirt. like out of the woods. and i only have kitty litter buckets, 6 of them which means each bucket gets 2 plants. they are going to have to deal with it.

i understand that these leds by them selves kinda suck, being only 13.5 w each. but im gonna throw them in there and hope that with all the cfls and the 2 floresent tubes every spectrum that can be used is given to the plant

good luck... go get more dirt and transplant them bitches into whatever you can find... does not have to be a cup, or pot. could be a milk jug, a trash bag, really whatever lol... 6 in 1 is crap man, even 2 in 1 is waste of energy. one will get bitch slapped by the other.
