My First Grow with cfl's

with soil, a good thing to do is rotate between nutes and ph'd water flushes to get rip of any salts or mineral deposits...

i really dont think you should transplant until you see many many roots on the bottom of whatever you are using right now...

have a supercharged ball of roots ready to go into fresh larger medium is actually good for the plant...

as long as the hairs are white on the bottom and you only have a few scattered roots, you should hang on for a little bit until the bigger home for your babies...

plants look good, i would lower the fan to medium even though u said high strengthened the stems... they can still break under too much stress... trust me on that one ( i did it to mine).... as large as my plants are i still keep my fan on low - medium and had to stabilize one of my plants stems with toothpics.

other than that your plants are looking great and healthy... alot of seedlings get superlanky... just keep up the good work. in a few weeks upgrade to a larger set of cfls in use, the plants cant get enough cfl. they thrive

i see your sticking to cfl the entire way.... i wasnt planning on doing that but when i choose to flower and it isnt cold yet in my area i am going to cfl the whole way and replace some of my blues to reds....

if it gets cold in time or i choose to wait for cold, i will be using a hps...

my plants didnt like any temps over 84 and did not like the 600W mh i had for them....

im really kicking myself in the ass for buying the ballast hood and bulb....

well.... now i have knowledge under my belt and cfls WAY cheaper, and according to my plants work just as well maybe even better

Thanks chrome. Much appreciated. I will be transplanting though because i can see white root tips sticking out of the bottom. Soon the root's will run out of room and i wan't it in the big planter before that happens, thank you for the tip though my friend.

So that's a yes to my question i posted earlier in this thread? that it is a good idea to flush before you switch to the 12/12 nutes?

So Plant 1 is easily doing the best right now. Lots of new growth. Seems to be getting better and better every day.

You aren't serious about trying to flower those already are you? They are still just seedlings. They haven't even grown the 5 point leaves.

There are no branches. You need to keep thme in veg for at least 6 to 8 more weeks. If you try to force flower now you'll be lucky to get a gram out of them, if they flower at all.

I'm not trying to make you mad, but growing anything is about patience. You can't rush it.

people grow their seedlings on flowering times of 12/12 ... its not the best thing to do in quantity, but suprisingly enough, alot of people do it and it works...

i like to wait tho

and you dont HAVE to flush before the 12/12 cycle, i'm just saying people that use soil rotate nutes and flush every other feeding to reduce possibility of salt buildup

12/12 on seedlings sounds less than a sog even, perhaps a gram per plant? the doc said yesterday he was gonna veg for another 2 weeks, and in that amount of time a flush shouldn't really be necessary, although i'd recommend it for longer grows

they say the plant doubles in size approx from time flowering starts to harvest time?

its a good rule of thumb, but it could be anywhere from 1.5-3x the size depending on genes and environment

lol 6-8 more weeks that would be stupid. Im pretty sure im not already going to start flowering, i said im going to veg for 2 more weeks. You must have missed Garden Knowm's posts under the Proximity to Foliage thread.

BUT... if you have 1000 watts of HPS... on a light mover and you are only growing 2 plants... then you may want to veg for 6 weeks... and really grow some monsters..... The light will give you decent penetration and if you space the plants out.. you can probably get 4-8 ounces per plant..

The INNER workings, or inner area of a BUSHY plant never gets light... the sun can not even penetrate a bush..... ANYTIME you walk by a bush... even if it is 15 feet in diameter and 15 feet tall.... if you peel back a few branches, you will notice that only the outer 2-4 inches is actually green foliage and the rest of the bush.... is BROWN stick, absent of foliage...

My point being.. it can be difficult to get big yield from a big plant.. unless you have adequate light for the entire surface area... and forget about the center....

A gram per plant, hardly seems worth the trouble. You'll smoke up both plants in one sitting.

I heard the plant is 1/3rd its completed size when you start flowering.

and how tall is it now? 4 inches? It's just a baby. I think you would get much more bud if you vegged longer. I just don't see where a gram per plant is worth the effort or the risk.

Thanks for the time misshestermoffitt. I aprreciate the tip bro and i will be vegging it longer like you said. This plant is barely a week old so with 2 more weeks of vegging at this rate the plant will be twice its size. I dont have enough lights to cover a plant that is 15-30 inches tall. I don't know if you can tell but i am trying to grow them as compact as possible. Again thanks for the 2 cents my friend, it is much appreciated.

Well guy's i ordered a 5 pack of feminized Pure Power Plant. As soon as i get them im gunna start 2 or 3 of them. I can't wait!!!!!

Is it better to line a GROW BOX with FOIL or in ALL WHITE?

Actually your gunna want to avoid foil completed altogether. Mylar works, emergency blankets work, and yes all white would work as well. I don't use anything personally because all of my walls are white and my plants seem to be doing just fine.
