My First Grow (outdoor rural guerrilla)

This was my first ever grow this year. I had a lot of failures and the grow went poorly, but I learned a lot and it might have been one of the funnest things I've ever done.

There is a place not far from where I live that has a creek and some vegetative area around it that is surrounded by a nice rural neighborhood. Picked up two clones from a club and bought some soil and nutrients, and got to work. My friend was helping me with the grow and teaching me about the basics and letting me make mistakes and learn from them.

The first thing we did is found a spot that we could obscure from anyone's view and have an entrance that people wouldn't see and want to investigate. We found an area filled with blackberry bushes that had a trail that went past a tree with a large trunk that was all twisted and formed a perfect entrance that avoided footsteps. We would step on the tree trunk and walk around it to our grow area, which was basically a large area filled with blackberry bushes.

We cleared out a staging area to work out of and than decided to cut a tunnel through the blackberry bushes to an area that received more light. Yes, we felt like kids cutting the tunnel, and the tunnel remained intact throughout the grow. Very much added to the adventure of it all.

When we were finally finished with clearing all of that out we set up out plants and checked on them every day. One of our plants wasn't very healthy, so we tried to nurse it back to health. I honestly don't know which strains we got. We were so focused on the grow area and the grow itself and totally forgot to document which strains they were.

We actually started in the middle of the summer, so we knew we wouldn't be getting much out of these. It was more tog ive me some experience growing.Towards the end of the grow closer to harvest we got unlucky and had rain and frost, and one of our plants had mold so we took it out at night and put it on the football field at out local high school. It was pretty funny hearing about it from my little sister and her friends, and made the loss not feel as bad. The other plant didn't give us much yield. We ended up getting 21 grams of some stoney outdoor. It didn't taste good, but it was great for making chocolate chip cookies with. ;-)

Things learned:
Airflow is essential. The place we picked was really bad because it was a breeding ground for mold and bugs. I'm sort of amazed we didn't have any bug problems.
Watering is a bitch. I think I'll like indoor grows much more.
Blackberry bushes are evil as hell, and actually a great deterrent for people. No one wants to fuck around with blackberry bushes.
Growing takes hard work and dedication and patience.
Something always goes wrong and you just have to stay calm. One day while we were working a homeless man who was smoking some crack in the creek area heard us working and came poking around. he saw our plants and we talked to him, letting him know how much work we put into it and let him brag to us for about 10 minutes about weed he had grown, which were obvious BS stories. We made sure after that to be more quiet and set up "traps" that let us know if someone else had been to the spot. Basically just things that people would have to move if they wanted to get in to our grow that would let us know if someone moved them. Ended up never seeing him again.
I love growing marijuana.

Thanks for reading. Sorry for the massive amounts of attachments, and that they aren't in any sort of good order. We actually didn't take pictures of the harvest. We had other things going on and forgot about documenting it. We ended up making butter with it and made a lot of chocolate chip cookies with our Mom's recipes.

I have been planning an indoor grow for the last couple weeks and I'm going to start building the veg room and a mother room soon. Feel free to ask me any questions or give me constructive criticism/tips. Thanks for reading!

Glad you pulled it off! That tunnel path looks so inviting, lol... the kinda path I would go down if bumbling about! So, I guess crack trumps mj in the eyes of the addict? Nah, the dude probably couldn't remember even talking to you.

good thing that crackhead was a decent dude. 21 gs not to shabby. if your going to do it again next year an earlier start will help you out alot. If you can, try and dig some holes and haul out some nice ammended soil. Check out the thread in my sig. My 1st guerilla grow too. the harder it is to get to the better.

The problem was that there is no air flow in the area it's at, and the sun wasn't ideal. I'd do another guerrilla grow, but looking back on it it was really risky walking in there to check on the plants and water them and I am planning my first indoor grow right now. A 1000w flower, a 400w veg, and a mother room. Might be buying the materials and making the veg room and mother room in the next week or so. I'll make sure to take pictures. I might start a thread in the indoor grow section after I built the cabs and get seeds popping. I should be able to get the flower room built in January when I get some more money. Until then I want to grow clones and sell them to clubs or even give them away to people.

Indicator: He probably didn't even remember us. He left his bag by the trail that we used to get to our grow and he never came back for it. Might have gotten arrested actually. The bag was full of condoms and some other crap. At first we got worried, but there was nothing we could do other than see what happened, as we didn't have another spot to move them to. Our investment was minimal anyway, so if we lost it we would have just shrugged it off and learned from it. Doesn't do any good to worry about things. The only thing you can do is plan for the worst.

@ indicator. Thats me with the shovel and the 32. I was helping with the grow. You couldn't see the tunnel from the trail because its only access point was gained by walking the trunk of a tree covered surrounded by black berry... So the tunnel is actually obscured by a large tree trunk and black berry bushes.

We smoked a blunt beforehand. A 40 might have been too much. In retrospect getting high/drunk while doing work was a bad idea. We were far too loud. Live and learn. =)

guys you have to get tough to be a gorilla grower lol. this year had a plant across a river that i had to swim to get to it wore nothing but trunks and flip flops dealt with drift piles and logs under water then on the bank poison ivy, briers, bugs, and stinging nettle (natures true gift from hell). and when harvest time came on Oct 29th the temps were in the high 40's and the river was up 5 or 6 feet had to swim across with a mag light and 5 gallon zip lock bag in one hand. thought i was going to drown getting over there and back and i was so cold that my skin felt like it was burning. i know have the nickname Chuck Norris from my friends who pussed out on me and sat on the bank smoking a joint laughing at me. but i would do it again

That's ridiculous! That wouldn't be worth it for me. I don't mind being tough, but I try to set things up in a way that I don't have to do that much work if I have to. I don't think guerrilla growing is my game, even though I loved it. Transitioning to indoor growing, as I prefer indoor bud. Easier on my lungs.

Look at the indoor grow I'm starting. It's still a wonderful journey, just a different one more suited to what I enjoy and get the greatest happiness from. I might do another guerrilla in the future, but I had an opportunity hit me and I am not going to let it pass me up.

What a cool experience you had. Those blackberry thorns are no joke. It's good your friend let you make your own mistakes and learn from them. My man did the same for me this year.

thats me with the bald head and the 32

And Blackberry bushes are no joke ! Long for the day when I can dust my equipment off and start doing what i love.
