My first grow. How am I doing? (w/pics)

Another update. I think I have about 2 more weeks or so before chop so I flushed her out today and finished up by watering with just water & molasses...no nutes. The soil I'm using retains more water than I'd like so I hope she doesn't get root rot so close to the end. I'm not gonna water her again.

Here we are on day 47 of flowering.

A shot of the bud on a side branch.

And lastly the main top cola.

I trimmed some burned spots on the fan leaves that had gotten to close to the lights...but as you can see there are still some burns here and there. Damn space restrictions. :(

Well, my method has been sort of winging it (some is explained in the first post and you can see the setup there too.) but I'll give you a breakdown.

Germinated 2 seeds and lit the seedlings with a 23W 6500K CFL (not enough light bus I'm a n00b myself).

One was lanky and one was short and bushy, I yanked the lanky one and repotted the stout bushier one.

I then vegged for for about 6 weeks @ 24/0 using 2 26 watt 6500K CFL' until the plant was about 8" tall since I expected it to double in size.

I then switched out my bulbs to the 2700K kind and began 12/12 for flowering. After about a week the plant showed it's sex and it was female (lucky break). At about 2 weeks into flowering, I topped the tip of the main bud and two colas formed in it's place. At this point she started getting fed with MG Bloom Booster (15-30-15) at 1/2 strength and 1 Tablespoon of Molasses per half gallon of water whenever the soil was dry.

As she's gone along I've added several more 2700K CFL's and one 6500K CFL since I hear it helps prevent stretching. She has 10,200 on her lumens total. I check the trichs daily now. Also, whenever I had a chance and no one was around I placed her near a glass sliding door that gets full sun from 10AM - 3PM. I've given up on that for these last final weeks though as I don't want the stress from moving her around so much to cause her to hermie on me.

I did have one lower branch (of 3) go hermie on me several weeks back so I chopped it and smoked it. It was way too early though so I only got a good buzz.

That's about it for my growing method. I've learned a whole lot from reading this site and trying out various things as I go along. So far I've lucked out but it's been a learning experience for sure.

ive seen lots of anti-mirror semitism, and i bet he had that mirror there the whole time before he started posting, and that plant looked pretty good. sure mylar is better, but to close in a large space, to make it a small space in a closet, a bathroom mirror works wonders. i saw a test done on this site and a mirror didnt fair TOO much worse than than flat white, mylar was clearly the best by a decent margin. i have been using a mirror to close my grow in as well, they do help if you use em right, there are better things, cardboard wrapped mylar maybe for what its being used for here.

Maybe i just like playing devils advocate, BUT his plant looks fine, and so do mine.

the negitives, they are not practical for large scale use due mostly to cost and they do absorb light as many have noted, but they are better than just letting your light leek all over your growroom.

your plant looks nice man hope mine end up as pretty.

Depends on the quality of the mirror and what you use it for... the point really is not to reflect the light but to reflect the lumens that stray away from the light.

My Brother from a different Mother, you Sir have what I have....a classic SATIVA. It looks exactly like my strain, which if I am correct with my research, is..."KALI MIST". Which is some fine ass smoke. I've been looking for someone with the same strain as mine to compare notes with. Looks like that's you. I am right behind you with my buds. I have often wondered what they would look like a little older and your pic. shows me that. Let's stay in contact to compare notes, eh? Good luck Bro.!!

Here's mine 1 1/2 wks. ago....

I should update everyone. I had to cut her down on day 52 due to a huge infestation of symphilids that was killing the plant. She had stopped showing new growth and within 2 days was showing severe signs of death in her leaves. She never got to do her final fattening up. Still though the smoke is incredibly good and very energetic and giggly and you become so absorbed in whatever it is you are doing at the moment.

Overall I made newb mistakes but for the most part this was a success. This weed is much better than the mexi-brick this plant most likely came from.

Total yield was 25 grams after drying and stem removal. She was 17 inches tall.

Here she is after the chop.

Hanging to dry (the light was only for pic purposes)

Lastly some bud shots(would be more there but I smoked all the smaller popcorn ones).

To those who followed my progress. Thanks for stopping by.

Very very nice man!!! When I read your post it was as if I was reading my own situation bro LOL I have very very little space. Currently I have 2 I guess what they call "seedliings" they just popped up from the dirt. Since your doing so well maybe i can bend your ear and ask some questions of my own? My biggest fear is doing stuff at the right time. I get sooo confused by all the tech terms, I mean I am a firm believer in the KISS method too man. So its been only 3 days since they popped up from the soil with the husk of the seed looking like a lil hat. I have them in 16 oz clear plastic cups and checking the moisture with a Water/PH/Light meter I bought at Home Depot. Ok here goes.... Do I add anything to them as far as nutrients at this early age? Next question.... When should I start adding nutrients? Next question.... What stage comes next after the "seedlings" grow some? OMG bro I best just stop here man, your gonna hate me for not bending your ear but biting it off LOL Tell ya what, if you know of a forum/post that can break down the timeline in laymans terms can you point me in the proper direction? I've had a lil help from some pretty savvy dudes but to be honest there are times when I don't know WTF they are talking about and feel stupid having to ask for a simpler explanation LOL. I know in time I have to upgrade my light situation also, I only have a regular desk lamp with 2 florescent tubes, 1 cool and 1 warm, pretty pathetic huh? lol I'm going to purchase some CFL's like what your using, that part helped me ALOT bro!!! But I still don't know much about the different stages of growth, nor what to do when the plant gets there. If you want to PM please do, or post here... I'll take anything I can get hahaha!! Take care bro and may your smoke be sweet and strong!!!
