MY first ever PETITE BLANCHE fem run

Hi guys
OK a bit nervous about posting here as I am a hobby breeder and only give my seeds away on competitions through my website growersguidetocannabis and don't really sell.... however breeding autos has become a passion of mine but so far I have I have only dipped my hand at non fems.

It all started about two years ago when for the first time I grew on some unfeminised mi5 seeds and ended up with a few males. That first time I did a simple straight cross with two similar plants and then got about 250 seeds I was bitten by the bug! Partly it was because this answered by problem of having sufficient autos to cover a square metre (obviously you can't keep them in veg growth to fill the space) without spending money I didn't have on large numbers of seeds. But mainly I think it is because we all want to create our own stamp on life and being quite a inquisitive and stubborn person I decided to have a go at it: do some reading and try and come up with my own little strains of autos.

Its been two years now crossing with standard unfemmed plants like White Widow, cream caramel, some super autos, northern lights and others and I have in the process probably about 5 decent auto strains either past the 5th cross or heading there.... to be honest I have been trying to keep it simple and over the next year if you guys don't mind I would like to start femming my strains and bring my efforts to some type of completion.

My most stable strain I have is what I have named "PETITE BLANCHE" and I've built this from the first cross of a MI5 (AUTO) with a standard white widow and the subsequent 5 crosses I have made were from the off spring.
The first cross weren't 100 % auto so I ended taking a auto male, collecting the pollen, then choosing my favorite auto female from the same batch and crossing.
It wasn't until the 3rd generation where I could say that the auto gene was fixed, as every time I do a 50 plant seed run I wait until they sex and choose my victims to carry on the line. On the 5th seed run I planted 100 seeds with a lucky 100% germination and a 100% auto characteristic: They are also uniform in height and flowering time. I chose 12 females from this batch and killed off the rest and grew them to harvest.

I was very happy.... in 7L pots I cropped approx- 28 grams of super Chrystal antiseptically smelling bud from each plant in a meter square space which is about 300 grams plus per meter.
only 2 genos I think...... 11 of one and a more sativa for the 1 plant which was different
Here's a pick of the my Petite Blanche (cross number 5) unseeded at 11 weeks

petite blanche auto.jpg

I had started a 6Th unfemmed cross but I had some issues with the plants when they were young so yield wise I was wasting my time as with the autos if you mess em up in the early stages they never get big enough to warrant the effort so I've decided to turn this run into a 100% femmed seed run only allowing the best females to be pollinated and dumping the rest in the garden it will only be a small seed crop of a few thousand im guessing but man I will be happy with that...

well that's the background information and I hope I haven't bored you all to death but I figured it was worth giving you the info so whatever advice you give me will be with some knowledge of the background make up of the strain

Day 28
OK i have 15 plants which are a bit on the small side for reasons I explained earlier but they will be fine for a small crop of seed. I think I will be selecting 6 of the healthiest and leaving them in the room with my vegetating Liberty haze grow as any pollen won't hurt these.

As you will see by the photo I'm also a bit of a LED nut and I'm using Fero LED lights (the AF-600) which I think is a top notch system (hahaha plug over :) )

I've had a bit of a mag deficiency with the plants as well but i've put that right now so here's my Petite Blanche after being spayed for the first time with 30ppm colloidal silver. I hope I haven't left it too late and she Hermies quickly

DSCF2131.jpg

I will post updates every couple of days for the next two weeks as and when there are any signs of a male flower appearing.

I will be spraying the 30ppm colloidal silver every day for the next two weeks to see if I can change her sex. Just in case I have a male outside as a emergency back up so if I can't change her at least I will be able to do a standard seed run.

tx for popping in guys any advice will be very much
appreciated

so its day 3 of the fem seed run its all good
shes been spayed 3 times now each time sprayed liberally with the CS until soaked mainly around the flowering points but on the leaves as well not sure I need to do that but what the hell :)
What I am seeing at this stage is the hairs turning brown mainly on the top some of the calix I like to think I can see a emergence of a male pre flower but thats probably wishful thinking and is in fact a female calix slightly swollen with the hairs completely dead and dropped off
A bit stoked about the seed run as this being my first attempt at femming my seeds
I keep on hearing references to s1 crosses can anyone explain it to me

man that one plant is a bud making machine! i wouldn't imagine you topping an auto just as you can't clone them.

i'm dabbling with them, but by straight ahead breeding with them. if you really do want to use them, like you said, you pretty much have to become a breeder to get enough seeds or waste a lot of money for less bud.

they're great for cabinet and stealth grows, and i like the idea of using them to speed up 12 week+ strains that are stretchy and don't like to go into flowering too.

there is a serious pride factor when you make something that suits your own tastes that no one else in the world has. normally i don't care about pics, but it's cool seeing a member's private stash strains. have fun!

yes of course you get a little proud :) and yes its great having your own strains to play with
the common thought with autos is that it is a bad idea to pinch out the tips as the veg period is so short
however what I have found is if you do it at a really early age it improves the yield and makes for a vigorous plant
the trick with autos is to make sure they have the best possible start and the main reason that a lot of people have such small yields is over watering as seedlings which we all have done as its so easy......
ive found that startling seedlings for the first 3 weeks in a bubbler takes away this risk but you need to be careful when transplanting
anyway dude tx for popping in thank you for your kind words

wow for sure today I can identify a male pre flower I cant remember getting this excited about seeing a couple of balls before hehehehe
this is day five of spraying with colodial silver Ive used about 80 mills so far so am spraying about 15 mils a day as its only a auto
still a week I would say before she/he will release me any pollen
still very pleased

lol its all a bit of fun :) but yeah lets keep it real with no bullshit
I will post another pic when possible but without a macro lens and ring flash you wont be able to see it
as soon as the balls hang heavy I will post another pic
I really don't understand why auto seeds are so expensive ?
let me give you an example..... i could seed a plant and get what with a auto maybe 300 seeds
or have 28 grms of bud ? if I was to sell the seeds at 5 bucks each what I would get 1500 dollars ?
I aint getting that for 28 grams of bud for sure
I honestly think that auto seeds should go for about 1.2 bucks each when they are femmed not 7-10 USD

preach it my brotha! preach it! keep the greed outta the weed!

that's why the best buds you ever run into are FREE and not for sale. there's them that grow for money, and them that grow for quality and simple love of the herb.

does ANYONE actually buy doggie's nuts beans?

true to the jedi way are you young pack-a-bong

hahhaahaha lol I understand that it takes a while to get it right when breeding and they get into it a lot more than I do I expect ive bred the line to much or something
However its not the breeder who gets the inflated price is it ..... it the packaging/seed companys and middle men isnt it ? hmph......
anyway I think I will leave it there :)
tx for the support guys and if I can help someone take the first step into breeding then thats cool too.....caus it really is only common sense and plant skills and not as intimidating as you might first think....
you don't need fancy pollen filters or special kit I can keep a male in my flowering room with just a cut off 8L water bottle protecting the other plants from the pollen in a type of dome
lol just dont knock it over like I once did and watch with horror as golden boy love dust floated across the room humming Barry White love songs with a horny glint to their eye

i agree that serious breeding is time consuming work and worthy of appreciation, but $10+ a seed starts getting a bit over the top. say you get 300 seeds from a plant, that makes it a $3,000 dollar plant! multiply that by just 10 plants, and you get $30k! that's a bit extreme for dusting some clones ever 2-3 months.

i'd rather give it away myself though. i just want to have decent smoke, but better is better
