Nice job Rock, pretty impressive for a first grow with CFL. Those Larger 100 + watt cfl's Fucking Rock. This is the first forum I read when I joined rollitup. I wanted to see what other people were achieving with compact florescent lights. Like you I use a 130 watt and support it with smaller cfl's. I'm still pretty new at this, but already I know enough to get high quality, fat nugs with CFL's. I'll post some photos of my crop. You'll notice we take a somewhat different approach to use of the large light. I'm never sure what's better, having the light horizontal or vertical, personally I've had success letting it hang down and get light shine all inside the branches, check it out.

looks good Oldman, your plants look about 4 weeks into flowering, am I right? How many CFL's do you use? As far as CFL advice, I wouldn't bother with anything less than 26 watts, preferably those 42 watt spirals. Use multiple small fans, each directly pointed onto your most powerful cfls, then once properly cooled move them right close to the bud. You can use twist-ties to bring the tops closer together around 1 42 watt cfl, also using this technique you can snug one pretty close up inside the branches. Remember those CFL's have to be close preferably within 4 inches, cause you're not getting much light power beyond that, in order to do this safely cooling system must be in place to keep bulbs cool. Example I found a strange fan that mimicks the long shape of my 130 watt bulb, I noticed this fan when placed right level with the bulb cooled it To The Point I Can Touch It!
Most people would never put there hand on a 130 watt bulb, but when cooled properly marijuana leaves and hands can actually touch the bulb. Now I recommend to keep all leaves at least an inch away, once bulb is touchable, just for safe measure. tie back leaves, or just cut them off then slip the bulb right in among the branches. You don't need CFL everywhere, place them strategically too make best use of your smaller level of watts.

Here's that picture of me holding the hottest part of my 130 watt bulb. Just try and get your fan close to the light, then get your cool bulb close to the plant. So many people talk about trouble growing with CFL. I bet a lot of the time the light is too far away and not able to penetrate the very tops of the plants, causing the underside to be completely shaded. With CFL's you gotta figure out how to safely get some lights on the sides or something within the foliage.

I know some of those tube florescent have plastic cases that holds two lights which can safely be placed right up under the plants.

Thanks for checking by Northwest and Oldman. Love you grows.

True for you Northwest. Keeping the fan as close to lights keeps them ice cold. So You can really get your plants close.

Well my two harvested WW are now 100% dry and are in jars. Total weight was 52grams for the bigger plant and 29grams for the second.
Thats just over 3 oz.

Chopped a lollipop WW today, not very big, but looks tasty.

And I've a couple more bag seed plants to harvest in the next month.

So all in all 3oz will do my nicely for the next few weeks until my second harvest.

And the weather here in Ireland is the best its been in 10 years 27 degrees! Smoke up and relax in the sun.

(incase you didn't know Ireland rains 286 days a year, so getting the sun is a big thing! lol)
