Cool I just checked on her shes starting to stand back up since I put the lid back on .......Phew!

...Not quite ready for that I just hope the big one doesnt stretch too much while the little one is catching up!!

I took the fluoro out of the timer yesterday at 4.00pm and plugged it straight into the powerboard it will be running fulltime from now on (I'm guessing this just helps them grow faster?)

I just checked in on my seedlings and took a few photos:

53.jpg

54.jpg

This one is growing fast! the stem has turned brown and the first set of leaves are starting to emerge! (The stem looks quite long though)

55.jpg

This one is growing really slow! Nothing much has changed since last night the stem has got a little thicker but the cotyledons haven't even opened fully yet!

Hopefully with the light on 24/0 I will get more growth (I really want to get them closer to the light but I have to wait till the little one is strong enough)

Just checked on my seedlings.

56.jpg

The bigger seedling looks pretty good this morning! this seedling grows really fast! The first leaves are really starting to stretch out! I'm glad that it's starting to grow sideways instead of straight up!

57.jpg

This is the smaller one, last night before I went to bed I pulled one of the small cotyledons down to see what was going on in there (may have broken it! :dunce: ) But I think the extra light getting to the first two leaves may have actually helped? I also opened the vents in the dome all the way and unplugged the heating pad.

I thought I'd check the pH of the Seed 'n' Clone solution ive been using to water them. The pH looks like its still around 5.5.

60.jpg

I also thought it was about time to get rid of the humidity dome and get them closer to the lights!

59.jpg

I turned the small desk fan (from the growing cab) onto low and positioned it so both seedlings were getting a little breeze (the larger one is slightly vibrating in the breeze)

58.jpg

I gave them both a light watering these were the temps after around 20 mins

In tray: 23.8 C
RH: 66%
In Shelf: 21.8 C

I really hope I see some serious growth today!! The big one really likes it's new environment but the smaller one is still having a hard time!

Either this is just a shit seedling or I am just not being patient with it either way I definitely see the advantages of sprouting more than 2 seeds at a time!

My only fear is the smaller seedling may die and the one I have left may be a tall stretchy sativa phenotype which probably wont be ideal for my setup!

Ok that wasnt the way to do it :!:
I got told to get them closer to the light and stop checking them for 48 hours on another site so I didnt check them yesterday.

But it may be too late  they are fucked!!

61.jpg

62.jpg

Ive plugged the fluoro and heating pad back in and put them back into the propagator

Dont think they will bounce back from this one!!!

WTF did I do wrong? Mustve been too much light and lack of humidity!

I cant believe I cant even grow seedlings! :dunce:

Ok I've come to the conclusion that my seedlings are dead!! I'm not 100% sure why they died but I think they just dried out being so close to the fluoros and the fan would have really dried them up aswell. I also think I might have let the rockwool dry up too much cos when I chucked them they were quite dry!

....But you live and learn and thankfully I have 3 seeds left ;-)

So I'm going to try again this time I'm going to leave the humidity dome on until they get alot stronger and I'm going to start them closer to the fluoros so they hopefully dont stretch up as much!! I've decided to germinate another 2 seeds (I'm gonna save the last one cos im not that confident now! :dunce: )

I made up a soaking solution for the 40mm Rockwool cubes by adding 20ml of Seed 'n' Clone, 4 drops of Superthrive and 10 drops of pH down (pH 5.5) to 4 litres of tap-water.

I put my 2 seeds in to germinate exactly the same way as before (paper towel method) at 2:30pm today.

It HAS to work this time my goal is to have some decent smoke for xmas!!

High Again :D

Just thought I would check on my seeds this arvo and I was surprised to see they had germinated and had tap-roots! In 24 hours!
They were nowhere near as long as last time which I think may be a good thing! Last time the one with the long tap-root had a really long piss weak stem (I think the stem may grow in proportion to the tap-root - kinda like how our arm span is equal to our height).

So I wasted no time and got them into their rockwool cubes! This time I have put them into small 75mm net-pots from the Rooting/Cloning Res. This will start them a bit closer to the fluoro and I wont have to worry so much about disturbing roots when I move them to DWC.

63.jpg

Everything else is the same as the first time. The heating pad is plugged in but I haven't plugged the fluoro into the timer yet.

Ok I'ts been about 2 days since I put the seeds into the propagator the fluoro came on last night at 4:00pm and this morning when I checked on them they had both just broken the surface

65.jpg

This one still has its seed casing on it I will have to keep an eye on it to make sure it falls off :-D

66.jpg

And this one is just breaking through

They both look like they have decent stems so far (not like the real leggy one I had last time!!)

The temp inside gets quite high around 30-35 C and the humidity sits around 80-90%

I just went and checked on the little ladies they look really strong compared to the last two I think they both have a bit of seed-shell on them but they look to be doing ok by themselves I dont want to touch shit this time  haha.

I only did a few things differently this time to the soaking mix I added 4 drops instead of 2 drops of Superthrive, I also planted the seeds in the rockwool earlier this time the tap-roots were only about 3mm long, The cubes are also surrounded with hydroton (It seems to conduct heat just s well as it wicks up water! And they are in their net-pots which gets them a little closer to the fluoro.

I also thought I should add some water to the bottom of the tray:

To 700 mls of tap-water I added 1 drop of pH-down (to bring the pH down to 5.5) and 1 drop of Superthrive, I then poured it into the propagator tray It will just cover the bottom 5-10mm.

The lights will come back on tonight at 4:00pm-9:00am (18/6)

I'll post an update later on looks to be 100% improvement on last time ......So far anyway bongsmilie

Just checked on the seedlings half an hour ago they look awesome compared to last time!!

But they look heaps different I'm not sure if I had dud seeds last time, if it was the extra superthrive I used to soak the rockwool or if it was the tap-root length or the water lining the bottom of the tray! All I know is they look shitloads better than the retarded piss weak freak of nature throwbacks I grew last time :o haha

67.jpg

You can see the seed-husks from both the sedlings in the photos I've never seen that before I think it was because I put them in the cubes before the tap-roots got too long ....maybe thats why they look more solid cos they had to fight thier way to the surface pushing the seed ...bit of resistance training haha sorry I'm too stoned I'm ranting again bongsmilie

The idea of putting some water in the bottom of the tray is working really well the clay balls are all damp and I probably dont have to worry about watering at all! But I am still givng each plant a couple of squirts of soaking solution every 24 hours. I turned the heating pad off yesterday afternoon and so far the plants dont seem to mind I am also taking the lid off the propagator for an hour or so every day and the good thing is they are not falling over like last time! They would probably be ok overnight with the lid off but I'm too scared after my last two seedlings died last time i did that!

69.jpg

These two seedlings look identical! and they are both growing at the same rate .....so far anyway.

70.jpg

71.jpg

I also filled in the net-pots with more hydroton just to try and prevent any algae from growing on top of the rockwool.

I took the lid off the propagator last night (I think it was sucking up too much valuable light!) I left it off all night and they have had another growth spurt! I dont think I need to get them any closer to the fluoros at this stage cos they seem to be thriving where they are  But I will leave the lid off from now on.

72.jpg

They are still growing at exactly the same rate! I could probably grow these 2 out in the big cabinet but I think I will stick to the original game plan and use 2 clones from the one that I choose to keep as the mother.

I finally finished sorting out all my dosages and crap last night for all the nutrients and additives I will be using once I transfer to DWC (I also realised I bought the wrong clonex I was wanting to buy the gel but I bought the nutrient instead! so I'll have to get some gel soon)

Here is my cheat sheet that I will be using:

Please let me know if there is anything majorly wrong with it!!

Nutrients & Additives:

*Seed Germination, Reservoir Additive, Cleaning

GT oxyplus.jpg

*Always pre-mix with water prior to adding to the reservoir
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Seed Germination:

3 drops per 500 ml water

To 500ml of lukewarm water add 3 drops and mix well. Then soak the seeds in this solution for about 24 hours.

Reservoir:

11 L Reservoir: 2 ml per 10 L 2 x 1 = 2 ml per 11 L

50 L Reservoir: 2 ml per 10 L 2 x 5 = 10 ml per 50 L

Add 2 ml to the 11 L Reservoir every 2 - 3 days. Or add 1 ml every day.

Add 10 ml to the 50 L reservoir every 2 - 3 days. Or add 5 ml every day.

Cleanup:

11 L Reservoir: 8 ml per 10 L 8 x 1 = 8 ml per 11 L

50 L Reservoir: 8 ml per 10 L 8 x 5 = 40 ml per 50 L

Add 8 ml to the 11 L reservoir and soak overnight.

Add 40 ml to the 50 L reservoir and circulate overnight using the submersible pump after harvest.

*Remember to completely flush the system with fresh water prior to use.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cyco Platinum Series - Fulvic:
*Reservoir Additive

cyco fulvic.jpg

*Use this once or twice per grow to maximise nutrient uptake
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

50 L Reservoir: 5 ml per 1 L 5 x 50 = 250 ml per 50 L

Add 250 ml to the made up reservoir solution in the 50 L reservoir.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Phix !T:
*Reservoir Additive

phix it.jpg

*This product is best used when your nutrient is above half strength and your plants are well established and growing vigorously
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reservoir: 2 ml per 1 L 2 x 50 = 100 ml per 50 L

Increase to 2.5 ml per 1 L if the pH starts to rise after 24 hours.

Reservoir: 2.5 ml per 1 L 2.5 x 50 = 125 ml per 50 L

*This product will raise the CF by 3 to 4 units

This is what my seedlings looked like this morning

75.jpg

76.jpg

77.jpg

They have grown quite a bit in the last two days but they are still both growing at the same rate.

I turned the small circ fan on last night and positioned it so both seedlings vibrate gently every now and then (I'm hoping this will strengthen the stems - They look a bit weak to me)

78.jpg

This is how they looked this morning they didnt dry out like last time maybe because the rockwool is covered in clay balls and also the water I added to the tray would have helped.

79.jpg

The next set of leaves are just starting to come through
