Built this a few months ago. R & D took about 1 month. Did 1 grow of basil in it. I made a lot of pesto for a while there. My friends and family were happy about that. Lamp is a 250 watt MH. 18 Gal res. 800 GPH pump. Takes 10 3" netted pots. The unit works properly and flawlessly. Probably could have sprung for more wattage on the lamp with this many sites. oh well.....

Thoughts??...

Feedback??...

WOW, that is one of the most impressive DIY jobs I've seen! If it were mine (and I wish it were), I'd upgrade to a 400 or 600 hps and do 10 lollipopped plants in it and use your current light for a mother and clones. Seriously, your research and hard work really show in this. Excellent job!

WOW!!! Pretty Complex... Love the design.... Looks like you may have some leak problems though with all the extra values and swithes but if sealed right it will be fine....

I dig the level guage you made... Super simple but works.....

Never had any leaking problems, which surprised me even. I thought there would have been at least a few, but nah. As time goes by, I'm sure some will arise, especially on the smaller rubber washers and grommets, but those are easily replaced.

Thats sweet man! I also made one back a few years ago that used a few of the same ideas as yours, but mine wasn't nearly as pretty. Check it out.

Nice!!! That looks very space shuttle-esque. I love how home depot/lowes basically has everything one needs to build a DIY setup. I just hate it when an associate comes up and ask what kind of project they can help you with. I always have to come up with some bs answer on the fly related to whatever it is I'm looking for.

LMFAO! I hate that shit too, its the worst thing about shopping there! I don't even bother makin shit up anymore, i just say no. If you give them some fake excuse they'll never leave you alone.

One time i was at Rona buying some GH nutes and the guy at the checkout starting ranting to me about why marijuana laws are so much tougher in our province than BC. I just wanted to fade into the background. Hilarious.

Very nice... What size hose, grommits, and misters are you using?
Hose has a 1/4" outer diameter and 1/8" inner diameter, grommet is 1/2" outer diameter and 1/4" inner diameter. Sprayers have 360* coverage pattern and are threaded to screw into the size hose just mentioned. Hose is connected to the manifold with a connector that is threaded on one side and barbed on the other. I tapped into the manifold with the matching thread for the connector and the hose attaches to the barbed end. I wrapped the treads on the connector with Teflon tape, sleeved with the appropriate sized rubber washer and screwed it in. Over time those rubber washers are sure to break down, but all I'll have to do is unscrew the connectors, replace the washers and Teflon tape, and wah-lah.

looks good... few things though....

Be carefull with the size of those drains you have put on there, maybe bigger ones or ad a second on each length. 2 drains w on each is good to have for back up incase one gets clogged and also and mroe importantly as you get more roots thats less space for water in there so if there is not enough drainage thos chambers are going to fill up with water, come out the top of the netpots and make a flood (been there done that :S)

if you dont have one, your going to have to put a screen at the top of the drains so the the roots dont grow down it and clog it up... has to be a really fine screen too, i used 2 layers of screen for windows and it still grew through the screen.

love your idea for the quick res change

your probably going to have to put the pump on a timer, water will get way to warm with in on 24/7 and cause root rot.

hang that air pump off that pvc comewhere with and elestic band and it will be more silent then on rubber gromets

well done though
