I wasn't asking about being a caregiver dipshit and no Colorado is way diff than rhode island look how accepted mj is here compared to ur state shit there tryin to fully legalize it here were anybody that is at least 21 can grow and purchase it and no ur opinion don't matter to me maybe some one that you know! Which isn't me
Well if you could read you wouldn't have problems with interpreting laws. I posted the CO law, the CO laws are not just for caregivers since it states PERSONS meaning anyone applying. The RI law says caregivers and has some of the best protections drafted for mmj patients.

My state has already decriminalized marijuana, your state has a ballot initiative which may or may not pass, and if it does it would be purely symbolic. RI has had legalization bills drafted and put to the test already (See HB-7582).

I'm from Cali man the most accepting state of marijuana in the country, I live in RI for now. IF and that's a huge IF Colorado legalizes marijuana and starts to sell it in stores the feds will shut your whole state down lol. A state cannot legalize something the feds made illegal.. even us medical patients are not "legal" just tolerated.

Not my opinion there just common sense, that became law lol.

Sorry thought you ment you wanted to be caregiver not patient....

Anyways, i understand about the felony thing. Didnt say i disagreed because then everyone would have a card and their would be no way to regulate it or know its being used under the correct circumstances. Although, it is getting twisted very often already. Everyone has their own guidelines lol.

Doesnt help that when you call the DOH and ask them a simple question about the law they say "we cannot help you interpret the law". I see many arrest in the future an lives ruined because state half ass-ed this whole thing. IMO anyways.
I agree with you. They won't help you interpret the law because the protections are symbolic. If you get busted for any reason a cop can arrest you if they wanted to be a dick, because they can say they are following federal laws. Federal laws shield police, lawyers and judges, so they could mess with you even tho state laws are different. Federal trumps state.

Norml website is not up to date it was decriminalized in RI this year. Was decriminalized in Co in 2009 not 2001 and the penalties in CO are far harsher than in RI for personal use.

Personal Use Rhode Island
Less than 1 kgmisdemeanor1 year$ 500

Personal Use Colorado
Open and public displays or uses of less than 2 ozpetty offense15 days$ 100
2 - 6 ozmisdemeanor1 year$ 1,000
6 - 12 ozmisdemeanor18 mos$ 10,000
More than 12 ozfelony1 - 1.5 years$ 100,000
Over 12 ozs is a felony in Co.. Over 2.2 lbs is a felony in RI for personal use. The distribution laws are harsher here as for "stupid long" idk about that. But WE are patients/caregivers in this part of the forum not dealers so it's kind of a moot point. Sorry if I come off as a dick but it seems to me like your more interested in the distribution end of things. And that attitude fucks up the program for people like me who actually need Mj for medical reasons.

That's just the vibe i get from you no disrespect meant.

MIght be good to note, the RI decrim bill doesn't take effect untill april 2013.

Also good to note, some authorities are looking for loopholes to exploit as much as dealers are.

If this is true. Even if you show your card you can still be arrested and spend a night in jail. Nevermind having your posesions taken from you including your car. Dealing with the impound is never pleasent, especially if they damage your car or your stuff inside gets stolen. Which has happened to me for simple expired registration. And it may stay on your arrest record forever.

I swear, sometimes I don't know whats worse. cops or criminals. both can be just as guilty at victimizing the innocent.

victimless crime, my ass.

If the police try to purposely mess with patients I'm sure it will not be tolerated for to long. Our laws are kind of clear on that subject and judges usually don't side with those that circumvent laws.

§ 21-28.6-4 Protections for the medical use of marijuana. – (a) A qualifying patient who has in his or her possession a registry identification card shall not be subject to arrest, prosecution, or penalty in any manner, or denied any right or privilege, including but not limited to, civil penalty or disciplinary action by a business or occupational or professional licensing board or bureau, for the medical use of marijuana; provided, that the qualifying patient possesses an amount of marijuana that does not exceed twelve (12) mature marijuana plants and two and one-half (2.5) ounces of usable marijuana. Said plants shall be stored in an indoor facility.

As far as impound fees go, you would have to be reimbursed for them since it's a penalty. An arrest record would be expunged soon as you get to court, fingerprints destroyed ect ect. Then you could contact a lawyer and sue for harassment, since it's a willful violation of the states laws.

I agree tho and some cops are likley to test the waters until their department gets sued.

Lol... who cares. Whos to say your Colorado medical is better than ri anyways? Colorado may have better street weed (ILLEGALLY) cause so many medical people growing it but his personal medical grow vs your personal medical grow could prob be the same without question. Doubt weed cares if its grown in Colorado or ri. New laws seem cool for colorado but just means your guys are the countries Guinea pigs which = peoples lives getting ruined while feds an state figure out their shit.

Had some issues with my card other day. Got a paper in mail saying about a charge i had yrs ago. I went into the department of health and spoke to lady in charge who was crazy nice and took care of everything for me. So today turned out nice for me. Dealing with state stuff is usually a pain in the ass thank god the lady in charge is understanding and will actually do her job on the spot rather than most state people who wont say anything in person.

I was told on phone to mail everything and wait up to 6 weeks to hear back. The person in charge did it all for me in 10min in person. If anyone ever questions anything just talk to her on phone or in person. You get way more answers rather than secretaries who answer phone.

Good day.

Do you remember the person in charge name I'm drawing a blank.

So if u have a felony possesion with intent to distribute marijuana they won't let you get a med card?
If you have a qualifying medicale condition, nothing in your criminal record witll prevent you from getting a patient card. You will not be able to get a caregiver card with a felony. That's the restriction. Anyone that says different is mistaken.

Want to argue, read this first please. http://ripatients.org/legal/text/

Wanna know same thing... close family member has fibermicrosis (i think how to spell it lol) and her primary wont give her card without trying more pills and therapy which she has been on both of which for 4-5 years strait now. Her shrink says she thinks its perfect idea (mmp card) also the B and B consulting said its guarentee yes for card with fibermicrosis she just has to go for doctor records and pay.

Looking for a doctor who is willing to prescribe a legal medicine for her illness. BandB wants i think 300 and 100 for state and now 200 for a caregiver. Seeing a doctor should be a co-payment fee and then just money for state. How in bad economy and having a severe pain illness is someone supposed to randomly get $600 up front just to get medicine?

...yeah man, i don't know who BandB is and i get my health coverage from the VA so no way they pay, ...so no co-pay, i gotta pay the whole freight.

...and i'll pay it, it only hurts when you pay and then you have the card so to me a few hundred for a little peace of mind is worth it, i just don't know who to go to.

peace, bozo
