My DIY Revolving Tent Garden

Hello everyone,

I finally decided to share my hard work with you all, it's a little bit of a ghetto DIY set up but I hope you enjoy. At first I was looking at grow tents (Secret Jardin, Hydro Hut, etc), and I thought to myself "why not just build my own?" So I did.

The setup is 3 tents: 1 small tent for propagation, 1 medium tent for veg, 1 large tent for flower.

All home made with panda film.

Here's what we got:

1 Small DIY Clone/Seedling Tent
-Lighting - My old aerogarden lid.
-1 small fan for slight intake/passive exaust (need moisture in this box)
-Medium - Soil for seedlings, the useless aerogarden for cuttings.

1 Medium sized DIY Veg Tent
-Lighting- My old CFL fixture with home made reflector: 8 Bulbs, half 42w orange, half 36w blue
-Exhaust- Home depot 4" inline duct fan (forgot cfm's)/Passive intake
-Odor control - Zenmaster's DIY Walmart Carbon Filter
-Medium- Soil 1/2 gallon pots.

The plants in this pic were vegged longer than what will be done in the future. This round I had 6/10 females, and these were the males left from the first test batch. I left them in here until they showed preflowers so I could show how big the veg tent is. I can fit 16 plants in this veg tent.

1 4x4 DIY Flowering tent
-Lighting- HPS - 600w Lumatek Digital Ballast with Cool Tube
-Exhaust- 250CFM squirrel fan/Passive intake
-Odor control - Zenmaster's DIY Walmart Carbon Filter
-Soil - 2 gallon pots

I can actually fit 14-16 plants in this flowering tent and wanted to try SoG, but this time I'm just doing 6. The 6 were vegged for about 2 months and are filling the room up nicely. I may not do a SoG afterall, b/c I'm kind of liking this.

From the outside:

The propagation tent is on top, veg tent on bottom. These two tents were built from a plastic shelving unit and panda film.

FF Line of nutes and soil this round. Also epsom salt, superthrive, and molasses.

Strains in flower: 3xLemon Skunk, 1xTrainwreck, 2xJuicy Fruit

Here is an update from week 3 of flower.

Front Row (Left to right): Trainwreck, Juicy Fruit #1, Juicy Fruit #2
Back Row (Left to right): Lemon Skunk #1, #2, #3

This one is trainwreck.

Initially, I wanted to do SoG. This was the only one that turned out that way, b/c I had to veg longer since my flower room wasn't done.

Juicy Fruit #1

Juicy Fruit #2

Had to bend this lemon skunk. Poor and late attempt at LST at the last minute. :-?

Lemon Skunk #2
These lemon skunks smell so citrus/lemony. You can tell where they got the name. :hump:

And here are some clones from about a week ago. Only 3/9 are still alive...it was my first time. Yea that's right, I'm still a noob at all this.

I would suggest putting the clones in rockwool and allow to sit for a few days under a hum. dome then once you see roots put them in your aero garden to give them a little root mass before you put them in veg. or what not. Dont wait too long or the roots are going to get all tangled up. Happened to me in my homemade cloner

I may try that in the future. This time, I'm just playing with what's laying around. No trips to the hydro shop this time. I didn't really need to clone those, but since I was pruning the bottoms of the plants, I figured why not see what roots. Yea I know I need a humidity dome, that's why the other 7 clones died. They got dried out. In the future, I may not even clone at all since I can start seedlings, then move them to veg, then flower with 3 separate tents.

dude!! awesome set up man..I like your DIY tents..great idea..I wish I had the space..but your plants are looking excellent..making my jaws water..I can't wait to get some lemon skunk fat nugs...:-) so far my best looking plant is the strawberry cough..did you trainwreck stretch a lot during the seedling stage? mine is like 3 inches tall and like a skinny stick..I even put it closer to the light than I normally do during veg..but again + rep my brother..looking good!

To be honest I don't remember any stretching on the TW's, and my new TW's are actually not stretching either. The LS is the one I'm having most stretch problems with.

Thanks man, these tents definately saved me some money and space. :blsmoke:

Alright so here's a 5 week flowering update:

Unfortunately I've ran into some problems. All three lemon skunk turned hermie as well as 1 of the juicy fruit. All these were feminized. I think it could have been stress since I planted these when it was freezing, and now it's getting hot. I don't think it's light leaks, I'm pretty sure that was not the problem. The other thought is, I could have had bad genetics. I don't know if feminized seeds are really the way to go.

So here's what I did... 4 out of the 6 turned hermie, so I didn't have much to work with.

When I caught the first two, I chopped them. Then two more showed pollen sacs a few days later, and I had to make a decision if it would be worth it to sacrifice the yield. So I ended up chopping all but 1 hermie, leaving 3 plants (two pure females AK and JF, as well as the LS hermie). The one lemon skunk that I kept never formed any balls, so I decided it would be the least risk, and I've been clipping bananas out of the colas.
:spew:

So needless to say, we're gonna have some seedy pot (except for what I pulled early.

6 Weeks into flower

Alright I guess this thread is just going to be bud porn...

Clones and seedlings are doing fine, but I'm not focusing on revolving yet. This round was just to see what it would go like so I can work out all the problems.

Okay here are the gals:

Damn I wish I still had 6 of these! >.<

Juicy Fruit #2 (my personal fav)

Ok maybe I didn't do so bad with the SoG style attempt...just need more plants to fill up.

I love this plant...

Trainwreck (smells like she was crossed with blue berry, accident? idk)

Lemon Skunk: (herm)

Here you can actually see new pistil growth. Looks like the buds have buds of their own.

looking good. You could have let the hermied plants pollenate themselves and you would have had a bunch of feminized seeds.

I was looking at getting a tent but I really didn't want to fork over that kind of coin right now. I may go the route you did to see how it works out for me.

hey bro..nice what you got going on. may I suggest that if you try to clone in the aerogarden, use perlite for your medium...I use my aerogarden for clones too and I get 100% success rate so far using the perlite instead of peat or rockwool. alohas!!

Hey thanks, when I caught the first signs of hermie it was kind of too late. My biggest had already opened 1 sac and it was about to open another. So I pulled the 3 plants that had big sacs about to open. They still spread pollen all over the place, b/c it looks like I'm still going to have a few seeds. The 1 hermie I kept alive never produced any ball sacks, but just the tiny single and pairs of bananas you find in the colas. I've been plucking them out every day. I think I'll still have plenty of seeds (hopefully feminized).

As far as buying a tent vs building one... you'll save a lot of money if you can just build your own. :hump:

What (container?) do you hold the perlite in if you're cloning in an aerogarden? After the first signs of root in my aerogarden I transplanted to soil. I think the branches I cut were too low on the plant b/c the leaves only have 3 blades on some of them. I went ahead and topped them, so we'll see how they do. Like I said I'm still new to this. :peace:

Thanks for stopping by my thread guys, it's been pretty lonely here. :joint:
