My Dad lost his arm....

Hello everyone, my father was in a terrible accident about 15 years ago and after several years of operations he finally had his arm removed at the elbow, without going into details and make a long story short he is in intense pain every day, eventually the morphine quit helping as well as every other prescribed drug, the fuckin doctor gave my Dad a piece of paper to look at while in his office, my Dad has problems concentrating while reading due to his discomfort, and the basterd doctor put my dad on FENTANYL patch and now he is totally addicted and he looks like a crack head, the life is being sucked right out of him, apparently that p[iece of paper listed the potential health issues associated with the drug FENTANYL. I sugested that my Dad try cannabis, my Dad has never used cannabis and I have only tried it a couple times so my experiances really don't mean much. I was told it may ease some of the pain but most of all help him tollerate the pain better and be able to function throughout his day, is this true?? I have some friends that can get CHEMO, DIESEL, BLUEBERRY, or KUSH, which one of these would be the best for him to try? He doesnt want to be immobilized and my friends seem to have different opinions reg these cannabis strains. I hope some of you can help me with this issue as my father is at the end of his rope. Thanks in advance!:-|

In my opinion, he needs a hybrid strain of some sort, but one that is predominately indica. Indica strains offer pain relief & relaxation, while sativa strains offer a head high, usually more energized. He needs a good strain that has genetics from both, but is dominantly indica for the pain relief effect. Every strain is different, so if you're going to be purchasing his medicine through a friend, and they know for sure what the strain is, I'd look it up on the internet. You're looking for about a 70-30 split, indica-sativa, respectively.
I hope that cannabis is able to offer him the relief that he needs. I've seen it help countless people, including myself, so I'm glad to hear he's giving it a try!

There are two primary effects pot offers to medical users- sedation and happiness. Both have their place in pain management. Every condition has its own particular problems and every person with a medical condition experiences it differently. If I were you, I'd offer him a few different types and see what helps him the most. Explain how couchlock indicas can help him relax and sleep while more energetic sativas will usually do more to improve his mood for daytime activities. Do not offer pot that brings you down to patients with depressive issues.

Our Mother's Finest standard pheno is the most feel-good smoke we've ever had. Sensi Star is the strongest couchlock we've ever had. Imo Blueberry isn't a good choice for medical users but again, see what he prefers. Just try anything you give him first.

sorry to hear about your dad. i would recomend the blueberry or kush out of that list both indica. kush is usually a little more potent this is what i give my 28yr old retired bomb squad buddy. hes a 4 time iraq vet and has muscle spasums everywhere and at worse he starts having seizures. got him down do about one attack a month from a few a week.

Hey bro im a caregiver for 2 close friends of mine both disabled veterans that i deployed with. One of them is a amputee. Ive grow numerous of strain for him to see which one works best. Pineapple chunk, og kush #18, vanilla kush, LSD etc.... one strain that he tell me he likes most is Rocklock 80% indica 20% sativa helps him with the pain as well as the phantom limb pain. Which is a big stresser among amputees. Been growing it for him for about 7 months now and says all the medical values from the strains are still there. Its a very forgiving strain beginner statues so you can grow dank even if you dont have a lot of growing experience under your belt. Ive almost been a amputee my self due to a injury substained over seas so i feel your dads pain with all the surgery's and meds and all that bullshit. Hope this helps.Take care

From my own personal experiences with chronic pain cannabis has helped me go from being on oxycontin and valium then methadone and now I only need a few lor tabs and ibuprofein daily. It's not that it actually relives the pain as much as it makes it more tolerable through taking my mind off of it and gives me something to look forward to. You have nothing to loose and everything to gain if it helps him. Of those strains I'd go for kush or diesel. =)

Very well put, I'd agree that the two primary effects are sedation and a general feeling of well being. =)
