my bud smells weird.

ok so i cut off a small nug at the bottom of my plant and its mostly dried now. but it doesnt have that dank kinda smell, it smells kinda piney, it happend to my friend too when he harvested his, do i have to give it more time to get that smell or what?

need some more info... how long were they flowering for? how did you dry it? they mite of not been ready or dried wrong.. good luck!

The bottom bud gets less light therefore immature. You are smoking clear crystals...might make you giggle and maybe high for 10min or so

Some plants have a piney smell to them. That might just be the way the bud smells. But most likely it wasn't dried right or cured right, if at all.

doing a poor trim job on the leaf will also make it smell like hay. always remove as much leaf as possible, you can make hash with it. lot of people leave the sugar leaf, but i try to trim it all. you want to be smoking the best quality you can, that means more bud, less leaf.

how long in a jar for curing .. and how oftern do i burp? leaving the jar open for how long ?? thanx my 1st grow and have just started drying process and just now put them in a jar.. i like the taste of weed when it tastes like its ment 2 but i know what the fella is on about hay like taste.. fookin horrible taste like farmers feild..

I do overnight jar closed. Open till its dry again... Jar it till its wet. Then open till its dry... that's what I do

You gotta sweat the bud, so check at least once a day. If they still feel dry, close it back up, but if it starts to feel wet again leave it open for a good 20 minutes. Check them again and if they are crispy feeling again close the jar until the next day. Once you open the jar after 24 hours and they still feel dry they're good to go and you can just leave it shut. You don't want to check them too often because it'll just take longer for the buds to sweat, but you don't want to check it not often enough because you risk mold. If you open the jar and it smells like sweaty feet or something nasty, dump it out on a mesh screen or piece of paper or whatever and let it air dry out fully.


Once everything is nice and dry seal it up and put it in a cool dark place and forget about it. After 3-4 weeks, you'll open the jar and the smell will knock you on your ass. :lol:

Burping means to remove the moist air from in the jar and replace it with new fresh air. Kinda like a skunky belch, :lol:

Hey carnage thanks for the info.
I'm in the same situation, dried individual branches for 6 days. Outside of the buds felt crispy, some stems started to crack, some started to snap...
Now they've been curing in jars for a week and they still smell like sweaty feet! The jars arent getting moist, so I think they are dry enough, been burping them twice a day. Should I still put them out and let em dry fully?
