Just wanted to see what you guys thought of my lovely ladies( hopefully! ). I have 8 lil ones that are 16 days old today and they're potted in Fox Farm Ocean Forest. I fed them once with superthrive when i transplanted into they're new pots and they loved it! I water once every 3 days and they seem to be doing really good.

My lights consist of 7 27 watt 6500k CFL's and 2 45 watt 2700k CFL's and 1 14 watt 2700k. I'm gonna add more lights as i go, but they seem to be doing just fine with these... if you think otherwise, lemme know and ill add another few if i need too lol.

Any thoughts, comments, or advice is welcome! :bigjoint:

P.S. They aren't yellowing, its just the lights lol.

Stonedz,

+rep for the great grow, and welcome to RIU.

You know, I understand your thought process with "need more funds for better lights." However, you will be surprised when you find out these few facts.

1) You need about 7 CFLs for one plant.

2) At the cost of that you could buy an HID, hell even a $80 HPS from Home Depot.

3)If you are worried about running cost, heat, and initial cost, then I would highly recommend you look into T5 HO flouro tube technology. One T5 equals roughly 6 T8s (T is the size in diameter of the bulb, T8 is the common size, T5 is the thin kind, I suggest you do more research over my half-baked explination).

I use 2 T5 6500k 2' bulbs, 2 T8 full-spectrum 2' bulbs, and 4 26w 6500k CFLs. That was sufficient for my 3 plants last spring, but JUST BARELY.

Keep up the good work, keep us posted. :peace:

I've got 6 LA Confidential (from bagseed) and 2 unknown bagseed lol so i'm hoping at least 1 LA is a female. I'm thinkin ill veg for about 2-3 more weeks so about a month to a month and a half total.

Awesome stonedz dude..... Bless america many props honestly that was perfect stondz.... U have all the cfls u need for vegging bro, keep them as close as possible, play with them a lil, 1-3 inches from the tops is standard. Watch ur leaves cuz they will start reaching for the lamps lol.

Yes on a budget its amazing what an inexpensive hps from the depot will do maybe tripple ur quantitiy during harvest on a small scale grow like urs. + reps dude keep up the good work!

I was looking at the HPS security light from home depot the other day, and i think im gonna get it for flower for sure, plus a bunch of 45 watt 2700k CFL's. I've just recently been hearing about T5's and i kind of wish i got one before i bought all these CFL's lol.

Lol when i started these seeds i didnt think any of them were gonna sprout... and they all ended up showin they're lovely faces.

Thanks for the rep, +rep to you, for the info! :bigjoint:

I'm not too sure if i am just arrogant... but why do people use fluros to grow!?!? Is it a cost thing? Cause i swear by 600 watt hps lights and they aren't that expensive when you only have to buy it once and then you have it for ever... i mean sure occasionally change the globes but thats about all....

HPS if you want serious bud, CFL is a joke, works fine for veg but for flowering it is either 1xHPS or 50xCFL :D

Hey stonedz u are on the right track bro for where ur plants are at right now! Im going to stay tuned for sure so make sure u update! Heres a link bro check it out.... i think some are being a lil harsh about the cfl hps thing i hope this link helps in ur decission.....Think of it like this bro..... cfls will produce bud on a minor scale in this thread i did a side by side and the hps colas came in wieghing more than tripple the cfls..... I would think that that may be the persuasion i needed..... I wasted lots of time on cfl bud bro... Dont like to see peeps make the same decissions...

Hope this link helps....

a lot of people don't have the space, and personally i love my t5's, i dont have the space for an HPS my plants would bake in my grow area

Acid that avatar pic is awesome man i almost did a tripple take! What are the dimensions of ur grow area and what kinda equipment u working with..... I had heat issues as well thats why i stuck with cfls but im telling u one 32 dollar 42 watt same as 150 watt hps from home depot is all i used in the pix in that thread!... My grow room actually cooled off a lil cuz i replaced 7 42 watt cfls in place of it.....acid u do have cheap alternatives ... But im not knocking cfls here cuz people really put alot into what they have! Just trying to help out!

Hope that helps

Hey stonedz i just copied a post i done in another thread on this subject: It explains everything u need to know. The most u can get from it is no its not truely the same as daddy hps lamp....but u can utilize them just as efficiently as the bigger daddies in smaller stealthy grows buy keeping them close to the tops and by depleting most heat issues.

Hope that helps

Ok just went out and got another 70 watt hps today to add to my current grow.
Onsale for 42 bux at home depot! On the box it claims to be same as 425 hps but most true ballast started 400 watt hps lamps burn at about 45000 lumens of output.
The fixture i got today is not same as 425 watt hps obviously because on the box the total lumen out put for the bulb is only 10500.But u can utilize these lumens significantly by hanging this fixture easily 6 inches from the tops of ur plants.
Compared to cfl that would have meant i had to purchase at least 6 42 watt 27k cfls with a lumen output of 1900 lumens a piece @ about 10 bux a piece with taxes.
Hope this helps peeps in making there decissions on lighting. If the pix werent obvious enuff. LIke i said i started this thread so peeps didnt make the same mistakes i first made.
Listen to the pros hps is the only solution to mature, monsterous buds in the end result. Whenever i see cfl grown buds or mh grown buds im still impressed with the grows, i just cant help thinking to myself of what they would look like with an hps lamp over them .
Anyways like i said the pics are at the beginning of the thread. Just here to let ya know there are some very affordable fixtures to get instead of just accepting non yielding cfl light grows.
