My 70w MH and plant growth

Hi all. Its been almost 1 week since I started using my 70w MH light but I've noticed that they son't seem to be growing higher much but they are already growing new growth for brnaches. Now my question is.. are they not growing taller because the light is 9 to 10 inches away from the tops and they don't have to grow higher to reach the light or are they starting to branch out instead?

I haven't topped them or FIM them but I have gave them already their first feeding of 1/8 teaspoon of 20-20-20 in 1L of water so its kinda bothering me as to why this is happening.

exactly..this is why we keep are bulbs/lighting as close as we can..think of each new growth as a future budding/branching site.
your doing well..as it does grow taller slowly just raise your light up with it..
if the heat from the light to the backside of your hand is a little uncomfortable to you at the level of your plants canopy, then back it off..just keep her working.
let her dry out between waterings, feed, and do what your doing..
sounds like a good start to me.
also when you want to flower, just get a 70w cmh or hps conversion bulb..or swap in a hps system..
with the feeding, i feed , water , feed , water etc..alternate fresh water and feedings when it needs a drink

I have pics in my journal.

Also I already have a 70w HPS light that I will use for when I can start flowering clones.

thats a 70 watt mh? with no ballast?
There's a ballast just its a small one and it has a cap and initiator but I ran power coard from the ballast to the light fixture. The light fixture is one of my lizard tank fixtures that is rated to handle up to 150w bulb

Well my plants aren't growing taller and I was wondering if its because they light is so close to the plants. No CFLs aren't going to be used ever again for veg. My plants weren't looking so good when I was using CFLs. Well if I use a DWC system and the right pots I could fit up to around 25 clones in 1 square foot and that will be for 1 70w HPS.

well if you get more outta the 70 watt then more power to you..i guess you need a little extra power for growing more then 2 plants underneith that shit, anyone ever debate with you on this before? i did a grow on another name on this site with 1 cfl on a plant and ill be damned i got about 8 or 9 nodes b4 it got to the size of a playing card

Well I wanna know if I have to raise the light because the plants are pretty much in 1 square foot area and the light is 9 inches from the tops.

usually rull of thumb is if the heat is uncomfy to your hand then move it up...but if it isnt and your hand is fine use the new distance
Heat is far from being a problem because the way its setup I can almost have the back of my hand at the bulb before it feels like it would be to warm and the light right now is 9 inches and it has always been that far since the day that I started using it.

move it closer then. and watch for improvement in growth or if it looks heat stressed. your plant will deff show you signs if it likes it or not
