I picked up a 296GPH pump from petsmart for $40...

You can see my aero setup that I built for ~$65 when I post pics tomorrow.

I've been reading random threads on topping, including "Uncle Ben's", but I noticed Mr. Ben's was missing some pictures. I found this one on a different website.. I cut and copied for your pleasure...

I think this one is pretty simple and good pictures.

Topping and Fimming of your plants need not be the headache most make it out to be.

Simply follow the instructions below and your well on your way to being a professional in Fimming and Topping.

Topping a Plant

1. Locate the very top of your plant and cut through the main stem just below the newest growth. This should be done after the 3rd or 4th leaf set but can be done at any time after the 3rd leaf set.

2. Shows Plant Top cut off and where the 2 new Branches that will form a "Y" in the main stem will grow from.

3. Shows the newly topped plant after 2 days of growth, notice the Y in the Stem Forming.

FIMMING A PLANT!

Fimming is actually no different that topping, what fimming does is virtually the exact same thing only your leaving part of the new growth. This only takes of part of the new growth and actually topping the very very new growth which is very hard to see.

What this ends up doing is making it seem as if your getting 4 new tops right next to eachother when its actually only 2 at the very top (like topping) but since it was cut so closely to the next newest set of fanleaves 2 branches which would have formed there anyways seems to make it look like there is 4 new tops.

This is how you go about doing this.

1. Locate the very top of the new growth

2. With a clean sterilized scissors, Fold the fan leafs over and cut approximately 80% of the new growth off the plant.

3. View from the top showing the Cut

4. View of the Cut section after 2 days growth, showing the 4 new growth shoots (branches)

Thats IT!!!! you should be well on your way to Topping and Fimming of your plants.

yes it will grow if you immed put the top in an open AG sponge. i have topped one of mine 4 times now and each top has taken root and are doing well. i dip a Q-tip in SUPERthrive and rub it on the cut before putting in the AG and they have done well. i am at around 12weeks and have 10 females growing getting very big. had to modify my closet to accomodate growth. (tear out a shelf) but other than some singed tips they have had minium stress. Go very easy with the SUPERthrive if you do use it. I will not put it directly in the AG resv. anymore due to burning but do rub it in the roots with a Q-tip when i change the water keeps stress impact to a minimum. Good luck lets see some photos soon.

hey man they lookin good but keep an eye on the base of the trunks for stem rot..yes it happens to alot of people and happened to me once with the AG...it keeps the sponges too WET and and weed doesnt like "wet feet".Some strains are TOUGHER than others and can take more abuse and sum die really easy and fuk up easy,,si just keep an eye out for that!PeaCe.PuRp
