Snow is coming down outside and it is sooooo pretty.

Checked my plant cups individually and very carefully. One is now named retardo. Retardo had the root wrapped around his head and going down and not up.

Took Retardo and fixed his issues and hopefully he will now go the right way. The growth sponge was turning brown. Don't know if this is normal???? Comments?? I changed the growth sponges on two of them. All except one little runt is rooting well and growing normally.

I too, have named my plants.

From far left to right, we have.......

Gir
Shorty
The Tallest
Stealth
Retardo
Hope
Runtly

Gir is crackin, Shorty is doing awesome, The Tallest, well...is the tallest. Steath is crackin but slow, Retardo is now righted, Hope better grow, and Runtly may be a dud bud.

PH is perfect and added some water today. Distilled water only.

Temp 74 degrees
Humidity 30%

Again, repeating the girly phrases for them to get them in the mood. LOL

Three of them are up and out and two have their muzzles off and are spreading leaves out.

Gir Checked her and she is putting a root out but going kind of slow.

Shorty Catching up to The Tallest quickly. All leaves open and shes doing well. Look very healthy.

The Tallest Leaves out and looking fantastic, just slightly bigger than Shorty now.

Stealth She has roots growing very well and should be coming up soon.

Retardo She is a nut job. First she grew upside down, then I righted her. The she threw her roots all over the top of the sponge, replanted her, now she is sulking. Two little leaves are out but still has her muzzle on tight.

Hope This little girl is rooting but is slow. Probably not the greatest seed in the bunch, but shes cracked and trying to root, got to give her props on that.

Runtly Poor little girl, shes got a thin strip of green on the seed but shes just having an issue cracking open. Not sure if she will make it, but I wanted to give her some personal time to bring it around. LOL

PH stable so for and added some water again. Distilled only. Not quite positive when to introduce additional neuts but seeds are still there so no more yet.

Temp 74 degrees
Humidity 32%

I have three seedings up and out with leaves growing fast. The Tallest, Shorty and Retardo are growing nicely. Switched a couple around to play "light shuffle" and pulled 3 due to slow growth. They were crackin, but not as nice as I thought they should; so into the paper towell method plus 2 new seeds just in case.

First Position Empty

Second Position Empty

The Tallest In position 3, she seems (this is hoping here on the she thing) to be growing quite well. Tends to lean a lot but thats what I want anyways, easier to train LST.

Shorty Same height as The Tallest and is growing so nice.

Runtly Is driving me insane with her messed up code. She wants to throw her roots up on top and wrap it around her head. I have had to take her apart twice and re-root her. But, she persists and is growing. Very short though.

Stealth Has been moved to the 6th position. The root is out nicely and is about to push up out of the sponge. Maybe a day or so?

Last Position Empty

First picture is of all three seedings. Second picture is of Retardo, third is The Tallest and the last one is Shorty.

Going to start bringing up humidity soon.

Temp 79 degrees
Humidity 39%

Ya know, you are welcome to comment at anytime. Help is always needed and appreciated.

I can't believe how these things grow. The word "weed" is rather fitting quite frankly. Shorty is now as tall as The Tallest and Runtly is trying hard to catch up. They do grow right before your eyes don't they? Maybe this is some of the facination of growing. Can't it really be that deep? NAW, for most it is money, for some of us, it is pain relief.

The seeds that I felt needed a bit more tender care to crack, are back, in the paper towell method now. The tap roots are coming out on all of them which means a full 7 plants will be back into the growing machine. I wouldn't give up on them so I put them in a little butter container in the paper towell with distilled water. I placed them in front of my pellet stoves blower, not too close. They are trying hard!!

First Postition Still Empty

Second Position Still Empty

The Tallest What a girl this is, she was tall, but decided to wait for her sister.

Shorty How this lovely lady has grown. The leaves are a perfect shade of emerald with just a hint of secondary yellow, but very very hard for most to see. She is just as tall as The Tallest now, makes me proud.

Retardo She is bookin now. I can't believe how she is bouncing back. I messed with her roots 3 times and she is thriving.

Stealth She is pushing her head up. Trying really hard.

First frame is from left to right, The Tallest, Shorty, Retardo and Stealth.

Second frame is Shorty topside

Third frame is topside The Tallest

Fourth frame is Retardo

Temp 79 degrees
Humidity 41%

Come on, tell me they are purdy, tell me they are nice before I kill them ok?

The Aerogarden is humming right along. Air stones both working fine and water is balanced. These little girls are very pretty, probably some of the best seedings that I have ever seen. Ok, so these are my first ones in person, but they do look pretty. =)

The seeds are in the paper towell still and they are sending out a taproot pretty well. All but one cracked. Kind of worried that they are not going as fast, but maybe they just need a little more love than the rest.

So, here is the lineup so far

First Position Still Empty

Second Position Still Empty

Third Position The Tallest What a beauty she is. This has to be the most saturated intence color of green that I have ever seen. Not one single gem in the world looks like this, shes a beauty. Kicked her butt over so I can start LST now. I think its better when the plants are young. They are so flexible and it should reduce stress.

Fourth Postion Shorty Shorty has surpassed The Tallest and is just a beauty. A slight hint of yellow overtones in the center growth, but not too concerned because she has roots galore. If you have the root, you have a plant. Topside can always be corrected.

Fifth Position Retardo This little girl is so short but the color is amazing. She is a different strain. In all my careful methodical preperation, I neglected to mark the strain. But if I had to guess, I think she is a Papaya.

Sixth Position Stealth I'm so worried about this little one. It has a great tap root, but the head just isn't going very fast. I hope root rot does not set in. She needs a little something. Any ideas?? Anyone?

Seventh Position Empty

Pictures below include

1. The Tallest

2. Shorty

3. Retardo

Temp 78 degrees
Humidity 36% Will work on this tomorrow.

Comments are always welcome!! Remember, I have never grown a plant before. So...I have no clue what I am doing here.

Brilliant Idea
Ok, so this is the idea of the year. How Aerogarden didn't think of this, I don't know.

To change the water in the Aerogarden apply the fish tank method. Use a piece of your tubing that you have left over because you over estimated and thought you needed like 25 feet of the crap......and start a "siphon" and drain the Aerogarden into a bucket that is lower than the garden. Start the "siphon" with a little gental inhale on the tubing.

This way you don't have to turn it off. Take it apart, try and balance it and try not to hurt the roots. Drain a 1/3 off and fill it back up. Check your PH. Let it mix for awhile, and do it again. You might use more water, but hey, water is cheap.

If you are watching your plants very closely, the slightest water PH fluctuation can be fixed rapidly and easily.

::::curtsy::::

I MUST STRESS THAT THIS GROW IS FOR MEDICAL RESEARCH AND FOR AUTHORIZED MEDICAL PATIENTS USE ONLY.

A little late getting this post up, was out shopping and cussing the strawberries for the last hour.

The plants are growing fast and they are standing back up on their own tonight. The Tallest leans because I accidentally hooked my diamond on her and pulled her out a bit of the sponge, so she is building a big ol' knob where I jerked her out. I forgot that happened when she was little and thought she would recover. I've got a great idea for an invention.......but can't disclose it because its so friggen brilliant and I have to make sure it isn't already on the market.

I planted the other seeds in the other 4 empty spaces before I got the advice not to. DAMN......that was like $10 bucks a seed I could have saved. However, if they happen to come up, I move them into a soil grow to see how bad I can f*****k that up. LOL

I have tiny little brown spots on Shorty. They don't go through the leaves, but they are there, just a few though. HELP any advice????

Changed almost all the water again tonight because the PH keeps creeping up. I'm running about 6.5 -6.8 and I know that is a little high. I am thinking to going to a different kind of water. Evian comes to mind....I think distilled water sucks. HELP any advice????

First Position A seed was returned to the pod, however, I'm not sure who it is. You know babies, they all look alike.

Second Positon A seed was returned to the pod.

Third Position The Tallest is so beautiful. She is green as green can be and no spots or anything. Yeah she leans, but that was my fault. See above.

Fourth Position Shorty has a few tiny brown spots on her. Otherwise she fought my tipping her over and stood tall and proud on her own. Whew

Fifth Position Retardo is just about to send me over the deep end. The roots she keeps throwing up into the air have fuzzy white crap on it. I knew that she was retarded. Would planting her into soil help? Would just waiting and hoping be ok?

Sixth Position Stealth is pushing but just can't get it together. I think she is rotting. She has completely split, but he root just isn't growing. Damn Nirvana, only 3 out of 7 seeds are growing. I was happy with them until this. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Seventh Positon There is no hope for these two seeds. I threw them in this pod together because neither of them seem to want to do anything but sit. Breaks my heart really.

Temp 77 degrees
Humidity 33%

My daughter stopped over the other night and said "Mom, why can't you just buy pot like everyone else". LOL She refuses to set foot in my house until they are gone. Woo hooo, that saves me money. Great little plant.

Things are chugging along pretty nicely, however a trip to the hydro store was involved.

Lets see......Aerogarden $189.00 (Pro100 + shipping) Master Gardener set $19.99 Pump tubing, pump, spliter, airstones, seeds, humidity guage, neem oil, super thrive, fox farm neuts, hydroguard, Ph Down, and other accessories. $125.00 Water $5.00

So, that makes $339.00 and thats probably short. NO LIGHTS yet either. I could have bought an ounce and a half of medication. So, newbies be warned, it isn't cheap to set up.

Now for the update

Today I realized that my PH testing kit is a little old and not extremely accuate because it was for my hottub and pool testing. So, off to the hydro store to make sure I don't choke the living crap out of these plants.

PH was low, not high. This may have caused the little brown spots on Shorty. Complete flush of Aerogarden twice today because I put Dasani in it. I forgot about the extra salt and had to go back up and get distilled water and it tested really low. I played with it a bit with baking soda because I refuse to spend another friggen dime. It is finally balanced, not too high, not too low.

First Postition Seed still in

Second Position Seed still in and seems to be growing. (I peaked)

Third Position The Tallest I made a little holder to stabilize the stems. She is growing quite well, seems very healthy despite my attempt to kill her. Leaves are thick like an indica should be.

Fourth Position Shorty Well, this little girl sure showed us all. She is taking off quite well but still has those stupid little brown spots. I think that the low PH caused it and hope everything will get better now.

Fifth Position Retardo She is still throwing her roots up out of the sponge but I am sick of fighting her. If she wants to grow this way, then she can.

Sixth Position Seed still in, don't expect much here. I think its a dud.

Seven Position These two seeds are duds. No chance in heck for these.

Humidity 31%

She mentioned a tumor biopsy on the first page, so maybe she was ill?

I read through the whole thread, an I was really shocked by that last post. :(
