Hi all, wow its been a long time. For a long time a haven't had a chance but the time has come again. This is my only fem from 5 seeds that i germinated and im quite proud. But also this is the first time i have ever grown to maturity so im pretty keen on getting the harvest time correct.

I have read alot and realise that im looking for the tricomes to go cloudy or amber. I have got myself a nifty little 40x microscope all prepared but would really appreciate some input from you guys.

Ive posted some photos and am after a time frame if possible that would help in my preparations (no macro shots sorry). This is an outdoor grow in the southern hemisphere so we have just had the March equinox (12-12 day) and is getting more dark :-)

Thanks for any help, will keep updated YAY:joint:

Aw if this helps, within the last week or so she has been loosing a few leaves (drying up and turning yellow) so i have carefully pulled them off. These leaves are not on the buds though they are just coming from the stems. I'm pretty sure the water is okay as the rest of the plant is quite green (pic 3) Cheers!

What kind of high do you want from it? Based on those 2 pics it looks all cloudy trichomes, although you'll want to check around quite a bit more to see how the rest of the plant is coming along. If the rest all come out looking all cloudy and you want a head high then your probably pretty close to the end. Looks pretty good, Nice first grow.

Cool thanks very helpful. yes i have noticed some of the white hairs have started turning browney red but only very small amounts. Before this they were all very white. Ill keep my eyes peeled over the next few days and keep updated im really excited. Im trying to get about half amber half cloudy if possible. Do you think this would be like a 1 week time frame or more like 2 or more? Thanks again

if they are mostly cloudy on the rest of the plant as well i'd go another 2 weeks. If you do find some areas that are still pretty much clear you can just harvest what is done and let the other stuff finish up. Those areas may be 3-4 weeks(if you do find any.)

Ohhhh it must be getting close now ive got some new pictures to show. A little rainy lately so they look are are pretty wet.

Some buds have about 1/2 brown hairs but others are still whitey coloured. So i can harvest some and then the rest later? Will i need to just cut of the buds i think are ready and they plant will be okay?

Looks good man, Id give it a lot longer than 2 weeks it looks more like 3 to 5 weeks for peak potency

+rep I dont have one of those magnifying thingys. I learned how to grow out in the mountains of Humboldt California. All of the growers I know go by the trichomes. The picture in the middle you can see the trichomes pretty well. The vast majority are still white. I go at about 60% or a little more when the trichomes turn reddish brown or orange or whatever. Those magnifyin things are good too.

Nice first plant mate, does looks like it needs at least a few more weeks,id say more like 6,i been coppin the rain too,its a fine line between chopping too early or getting eaten out by mold.

Theres a simple saying that says plant fathers day. pull mothers day, simple but pretty accurate. What part of Oz u in?

+REP. Great job on your first (almost) finished plant! You're doing great but remember, patience is key. I'd let her go another 2 weeks atleast, it'll pay off in the long run. HAPPY GROWING!

Obviously he been learnin cuz that's a beaut.good job. Pull a little early to take full advantage of the sativa high. At first sight of amber id pull.

Nice job! On the whistle too that's badass you should open a webstore n sell hemp whistles lol

EDIT. You should rip a little nuggy off n test it to see when u wanna chop also.

Hi thanks all for your helpful input, very much appreciated as i have a lot more experience with the end product and not the plant hehe. Wonderful to hear that she looks good, ill be sure to wait to get the harvest time right.

Oh yes cheers i have heard about pulling mothers day somewhere, just getting colder and wetter now (im in South East Aus.)

This is actually my 1st grow where the plants have been able to get to maturity grow space, my last one in 2007 was guerilla and failed ( i had to leave the state for a while and couldn't take care). Since then i have been lucky (or unlucky enough) to never get a single seed in my mixes. We get pretty good sinsemilla hyge here so NEVER even one seed. Managed to get this seed from near Batemans Bay when visiting a mate as they have lots of bush there.

well done on your first grow, nice job. also if you dont have a lense to see the trichromes when you are out, if you have an old pair of binoculars you no loger need you can use the small lens in the eye peice, thats what i did and it works great, much easier than using the usb microscope if you are stuck

Yes after much scrutinisation at 40X with my led microscope i realise that none of the tricombes have turned amber yet so im definetly going to wait more. Should warm up again by the weekend, at least i havn't had to worry about watering :-)
