Hello everyone. I just started my first seedlings ever. I started gemination of 6 seeds at noon on the 22nd and seedlings 1, 2 and 3 were ready to plant at 6:00am on the 23rd and seedlings 4, 5 and 6 at 4:00pm the same day. The tap roots were all a little less than 5mm (1/4 inch) and I planted them about 10mm (3/8 inch) below the soil.

Here is my setup before I continue:
Secret Jardin Dark Street II 5ft x 5ft x 6.6ft Tall (DS150II)
6" Cooltube XL Reflector w/ add-on 26" x 25" Extra Large Wing
600 watt iPower Digital Dimmable Ballast
600 watt iPower Hortilife Super High Pressure Sodium Bulb (85,000 Lumen @ 2100k color temp)
600 watt iPower Hortilife Metal Halide Bulb (55,000 Lumen @ 6500k color temp)
6" High Output In Line Duct Fan 435 CFM (for carbon filter)
6”x24” Funk Filter Carbon Air Filter
6” Booster In-Line Duct Fan (250CFM each) (one for cooltube and one as fresh air intake for the tent)
Speed Bully Motor Speed Controller for high output fan on the carbon filter.
Small desk fan for air circulation inside the tent

-Soil is 3.5 gallons pro-mix organic vegetable & herb mix with 4 cups of worm casting compost mixed in.
-600 watt cool tube MH lamp is currently exactly 3ft above the seedlings
-Air temperature inside the tent is 28C (82F) with 600 watt MH light at 100% or 27C (80.5F) at 75%
-Soil and seedling surface temperature tested with infrared thermometer 25C (77F) with light at 100% or 24C (75F) at 75%
-When the soil on top is squeezed hands become a little damp
-Soil PH tested at 7.0 using soil/pill/water rapitest kit
-Humidity 54% with window closed or 43% with window open.

It took a little less than 2 days from planting to the very first signs of sprouting for 5 of 6 of the plants, one has yet to emerge. When I went to bed last night (24th) at 10pm there was no sprouting, this morning at 6:00am (25th) they were about 10mm (3/8 inch) tall.

Hey bro im onto my second outdoor grow make sure you dont accidently over water your seedlings they dont actually soak up water until about a week after germination but its still good to not let your soil dry out but also dont soak it, try watering it then leaving it until you can stick ur finger into the soil and if its still moist dont water but if its dry water it, it is good to let the soil get sort of crumbly before watering next

Thanks for the input. I think I gave slightly to much water shortly after I planted them using a spray bottle. I expected the soil to dry out A LOT faster but it seems it's holding moisture very nicely even with these temperatures so I've held out on watering for the last day and wont be watering until I can feel the soil going dry.

Also....seedlings 1 + 2 seem to be a deeper green color but seedling 3, 4 and 5 are a lighter green, not yellow but almost there. Is this normal or something I should be concerned about? stems look plump with tiny hairs on them and they don't look dry at all.

they sound nice you should chuck some photos up of them so I know what could be wrong but do you know the strain of them? they might just go that colour naturally

Feminized purple kush for all 6. Check seedling #4 picture I linked to in my first post and compare it to seedling 1 & 2.

I'm not sure, when I woke up this morning they were both sprouted. Seedlings 1, 2 and 3 were planted 10 hours BEFORE seedlings 4, 5 and 6 though.

well it must of had a not that good of a start but dont worey it should adjust itself aslong as its getting correct levels of water and light iit should be alright but some seeds can be weaker then others or maybe lift the lights a tiny bit because the light can give discolouration or burn if to intense . Hey if you want to check out my grow ill be posting my second grow, its bagseed but its doing alright, pics are going out in 7 hours or so since I live in Australia I have to wait until day

My radiant temperature for the seedlings (surface temperature) with the infrared gun is sitting at 24c(75f) and the air temp is at 27c(80.6f) in the "shade". Is my air temperature a little to hot for my seedlings? Is the radiant temperature of the seedlings and soil more important/relevant than the air temperature? Last night I improved ventilation in the room to give me more control over my temperatures and the air temperature was at 25.5C (78f) and the seedling and soil surface temperature was at 22.5C(72.5f) with the lights 24/0 currently.

From what I can find online I'm in the proper temperature range but I wanted other peoples experiences and opinions on the whole temperature matter. I figured once I'm on a 18/6 schedule I will aim for 21C(70f) during dark and 27C(80.6f) during light for veg. For flower I was thinking 19C(66f) dark and 25C(77f) for light.

Does that sound about right?

@asphalte he has started indoors he may know btw I have started a thread on my second grow I accidently made 2 the one made earliest is the right one, no one has posted :( but I am an outdoor grower your lights should have atleast one or 1 hours of no light because when the lights are on it is absorbing all of the energy from the light and storing it for later, when the lights are out it no longer focuses on taking the energy in and focuses its energy on building itself and when the lights go on it the plant might stop reacting for abit because you are bending its time frame so it will adjust to itd new time frame but the roots arent building and growing that fast although its still building itself with the light on the plant is absorbing more light(energy) and storing it for building time, monitor your plant after doing 24/0 and then do 18/4 or your own method because every strain is different someone correct me if im wrong but Ive been reasearching for a while and I want to do a half year veg and then flower it but top it so it ends up like a 10 ft monster outdoor

Good luck, keep on growing :)

I would point that desk fan away from plants till they r bigger( indirect wind) and 6.5ph, also u dont want any more than 78 degrees ( fungal growth happens most at 80*) otherwise ur doing great
