CFL grow
I have 4 bulbs 2700k 150 watt equivalent which is actual 42 watts
I have 2 bulbs of 6500 k 100 watt equivilant which is 30 watts or so for real
I have 2 of the walmart Tubes Grow Lights 75 watts
I have had this for about two or three months. I have transplants to a bigger pot about three times and every time it has helped. I don't want a monster just like a plant for me but I have a 4 more that are basically the same size and look the same this was the healthiest one in my opinion
I trying LST on one other that is going well so far
I think Maybe I should have started LST way earlier

Couple questions, is the plant 3 or 4 months old? What strain is it? how close are your lights? What if any nutes are you using? How often do you water? How big is your space? Sorry if this seems like 20 questions but need to know info before I can offer help...

2 and half months maybe
Lights are 2-3inches away
I have two that are about 6 inches away but the rest are 2-3inches away
Miracle Grow is the nute
Bag Seed is the strain so I am not sure
I water every other day but recently have been taking it outside when it rains
My space is maybe 2 and half feet wide and 3 ft tall lined aluminum foil top and all sides
Long is about 36 inches

You have the basics covered, I would suggest getting rid of the foil and painting the inside of your box FLAT white and then going on and putting the girls under 12/12. You have vegged bag seed a long time but everyone has a different style. I veg bag seed 4 maybe 5 weeks at max. My nut combo is shultz plant food, alaskan fish emulsion, and super thrive. With CFL keep them as close as possible. Let me know if you need anymore help...

Ok I already gave them to much Nuts and basically have been flushing for about a week
My dumb butt was using Miricle Grow
But I replanted every plant about 2 weeks ago So I am little worried to put anymore nuts in my miricle grow Soil
In the future I will make my own soil but this was literraly my 1st grow
I was thinking about mylar instead of the paint ? What do you think
Next week I will start with a 12/12 with a 24 hour period of darkness
does this sound right ?
Also if my plants are 14-16 inches will the really double or triple in size during the flowering stage ?
Will my Stem or trunnk get bigger ?

well i just put my plant in flowering and my first grow as well. and i notice the trunk does not really get bigger but i am only one week in, but yea mine has all but doubled in size already and has buds popping up all over the place. and well i am using african violet nuts for flowering it is 8-14-9 and well worked my way up in the beginning did half and then slowly increased to about 20-30-25 watered it 4 times now and looks great. maybe i am using to much but so far i have not noticed any nut burning. nut i use for flowering. Also do u have a fan blowing on the plants because your stem looks thin also not to sure about this since i just started myself but switching between CFLs and grow lights to sunlight might be causing stress on the plant and if so alot of stress, because i remember growing vegetables in my case in the start and switching it outside and it took a beating and all but stopped growth for a week. BUT i would start flowering http://www.lowes.com/pd_94649-316-94649_0_?productId=3047754&Ntt=frican%20violet&Ntk=i_products&pl=1&currentURL=/pl__0__s?newSearch=true$Ntt=frican%20violet$y=0$x=0&spellCorrectedTerm=african%20violet

Have you already started the LST on the one? I've been trying LST on my first grow here and it's been working well. Love to see more pics

Thanks for the link Super Appreciate it bigtime
Thats the only nute you use correct ?
I have a fan blowing 24/7
I think the outisde light didnt help you are right
I recently realized most of my bulbs are the 2700 k kind instead of 6500 k
Next time I will use more 6500 k in the beginning
My LST is going slow just started but it looks better than before for sure
the ones sprouting on the lower branches are growing super fast now funny enough they are not the ones getting the direct light at the bend but one or 2 branches lower than the bend
I feel my next grow will be acceptable and this one will be just be learning grow

I started LST on three others not this one cause it looked the best but honestly they have the same size trunk this is just my oldest plant by 2 weeks

The reason the branches farther away are getting long quicker is that they are stretching toward the light. A good way to keep this under wraps is to rotate the plant every couple of days. The ladies like it when they get even light.

To answer some of your questions- Yes, mylar is probably a better idea but is more expensive then just cheap white paint. You can't substitute foil for mylar. It looks shiny but trust me it will do more harm then good. Your stems will get larger during flowering. Generally the third or fourth week of flowering you will see a noticeable difference in the size of your main stem. Bigger stems mean bigger bud, I'm pretty sure that's why you're asking. While that is true, the real answer to the question is more veg time = more bud if you have the gear to support it. Since you are using a small amount of CFLs, the smart thing to do would be to start flowering sooner than later.

You mentioned that you would like help with this grow. Feel free to ask any questions at all, we're here to help!

I agree with WhiteNoise Mylar is great! It works well in medium to larger grow rooms but in my smaller cab (i have grown in both) i have found that flat white is way less work for three reasons...
1. it is easy to clean after the harvest and for some reason if it wont clean apply another coat
2. You dont have to cut and fit it to your space
3. And you dont have to order it, paint is cheap last a long time and avalible at any hardware store

WN you have me drooling at your avatar picture, I wish I had the space to do that again :(

Thanks Guys
As i grow this 1st grow I think about all the dumb I did and am DOing but its a learning Experience
LST is definetly going to be on my next grow early
I am a little unsure about my lights for Flowering
I have 4 -40 watt 150 watt Equiv 2700 k
I have 2 - 23 Watt 100 Watt Equivalent 2700 K
I have 4- 23 Watt 100 Watt Equivalent 6500 K
Plus two of the Tubes that are grow Lights that are at Walmart they say grow light
So 2- 13 watt 75 Equivalent
Am I good ? Should I switch two 6500 K for 2700 K ?
I changed my Set up a little but I realized I needed more side lighting and am WOrking on it
I am going to veg one more week then switch to 12/12
I am wondering whether to get bigger pots since I have the room

Ok so you have 311 true watts of light running. How many plants? And what size pots are you using right now? As far as switching the lights out, once we know how many plants you have then we can figure out if you can afford to lose the lumens by switching bulbs. Generally (but not always) blue spectrum bulbs will put out more lumens than red spectrum of the same wattage. I noticed an earlier post saying you had 2 of your lights 6 inches away. Since the discharge of low wattage CFLs is abysmal I would recommend getting those 2 a lot closer, within 2-3 inches. Some updated pictures would be helpful, we may notice things out of experience that you haven't seen yet.

Also, I don't know if anyone has given you this tip yet. Home Depot, Lowes, and most other big name hardware stores carry larger wattage CFLs for a relatively low price (15-18 dollars). Home Depot has 68w soft white CFLs in stock, and Lowes has a 62w version (true watts).

Since this is your first time I just want to give you a friendly reminder about power usage. It's generally safer to keep all wires off of the floor. Waist and up for electricity, waist and down for water. Check your breaker box and make sure everything is normal, nothing is taped open or corroded. Indoor ops are a very common reason for house fires. A buddy of mine didn't check his box, and got incredibly lucky just last week. Had his electrician buddy come over to check it, opened the breaker box, and there was a large mass of red hot wires! Turns out the previous tenant had taped the circuits over for whatever reason. Thankfully they caught it before the house burned down.

dsnuts- Yes I'm very lucky to have the space that I do to grow in. The room I use is actually 30' x 12' so I've got a ton of extra room to work with. I'm a medical grower though, so I only use a small portion of the space to keep everything legal. Hopefully the laws of this state will ease up a bit and let me grow for more than one person at a time. It's a waste having so many medical users unable to supply their own medicine with people like me ready willing and able just sitting on our thumbs.

I am using the 4 of the 42 watt which are bigger than the rest Should I use the bigger ones ? and if I do should Have some kind of reflector ? Where can I get one or two for this big reflector
I know I am asking alot but any help would be greatly appreciated because my two buds who have been doing this years dont know as much you guys
So far this site has lead me the right way.
I have more space but dont want to use High Heat anything
its basically a walk in closet with side space 4 ft tall and like 10 ft long and maybe 4 feet wide but I put up Cardboard with Foil and painted the walls white. 80 % is covered in foil

for the fixed lights get yourself a Y spliter at lowes and that will turn you 2 lights to 4. I really like the 42w lights as they are small and easy to work with. If you have a closet that big why not find yourself a cheap cab? I am helping another hobbiest on here gather everything needed for a cab and the goal is to do it under $100 bucks! If you like I can help you though that. Craigslist is the greatest thing ever! the Free section is amazing....http://raleigh.craigslist.org/zip/1771731818.html you can locate things like that all the time for free. If you are doing this for personal use a cab that size will be great...
