Multiple problems?

  • Hydro or Soil Soil FFOF (Started in MG, left MG around the root ball during transplant, which caused nute burn)
  • Type of light? 156w CFL, 4 6500k 2 2700k 18/6
  • "Atmosphere" Conditions Varies, mid 80's, humidity seems fine
  • Waterings tap water sits out over 24 hours, roughtly every 4 days, around less than half gallon for 3 gallon pot.
  • PH Range PH seems stable around 6.5 range (now)
  • Nutrients/Supplements No nutes until May 5th, it was given 1/4th MG liquid plant food and molasses
  • Design and Dates Plant is 35 days old.
  • Other Started before nutes were given, it was very mild, thought it was likely due to lack of nutes. Became worse in the day after watering. The lower nodes are the worse, up top a few leaves have random yellowing spots. Looked like it could be nitrogen deficiency to me, so I thought the nutes would help.
Turns out with the nutes and molasses my PH dropped real bad (~4.0) I have stabilized it bad to 6.5-6.8, that was 2 days ago.

It doesn't seem like the yellowing is spreading anymore, I think some of the yellow has went back green even. The bottom leaves that were badly yellowed have turned brown and I'll have to cut them off it looks like.

The leaves have curled down, I'm thinking that is due to being over watered, I had to water with PH balanced water before it dried out to stop the spread. It seemed to suck the water right up though, it will probably be due for more water tomorrow or monday. The top leave set is folding up not curling down though, I don't know what the cause of that is.

I was thinking a flush would be a good idea for the next watering, no molasses not nutes.

Any help would be greatly apprecated, I'm scared she may not make it.

That is 35 days old.... damn. Thats sad. Looks to be over watered by the curling... I had yellowing in a few plants, that I couldnt cure with foxfarm, switched to flora-nova and within a week everything was turning green. In the second week of use, you couldnt tell it ever had a prob

Thanks doctors, so it sounds like I'm right about it being nitrogen deficiency that was made way worse by PH lockout?

She is a runt all right, I had quite a few noob problems early on, roots torn during first ever transplant, nute burn from MG soil, ect.

I started with 4 plants and killed all the other ones, 1 was a light falling on it, the other 2 were MG related.

I'm pretty sure this one is a Bubba Kush seed though, so I'm hoping for the best.

yeah, its good to have your ph in check....your medium and your waterings....nute can throw off ph......I take it for granted alot and dont check ph......but I do realize things go MUCH smoother when I monitor my ph and I dont run into major probs.....gotta tell you though, till this day I'm half-assed when in comes to checking my ph!! happy growing:)

Same here, I almost didn't even buy a PH test kit, but figured I should. Then my tap water was right about 6.5 so I ignored it.

I couldn't believe when I tested it and saw it was around 4.0, That's getting close to vinegar levels.

With the leaves curling under should I be letting it dry out a day or 2 longer than normal? or should I keep watering when the soil is dry an inch or 2 deep?

I would let it dry out a little more....it won't hurt:) let the roots go search for water instead of force feeding it:) not saying that you are or anything, just trying to mimic nature......:)

you might even consider taking off the lower growth so that there is more airflow beneath the plants...your new growth should take off a little if you do that too....IMO anyways:) goodluck...

Sounds like sound logic to me, sir. Thanks.

I will clip off the browned bottom leaves tonight.

I hit it with a couple tablespoons of water that has peroxide mixed in right around the stem this morning. If it weren't for all the problems I would have either watered it this morning or tomorrow, it was pretty dry but I'll wait it out as long as I can and hope this will all turn around.

The leaves are still curling even though the soil is pretty dry now, the lower yellower leaves are the worst.

What besides overwatering causes downward curling? Does heat/ lights being too close do it?

I trimmed the worst leaves off 1 was so bad soon as I touched it the it just snapped off.

Any more thoughts as to what my problems are because it doesn't seem to be completely fixed.

Ya I know, sorry I don't have a digital camera just my phone, trust me they are a lot better than they used to be after I played with the settings a little. lol

I think a real camera will be my next "big" purchase when I have some money saved up.

I decided to not water today and wait for tomorrow to really let it dry out good and hopefully the roots will grow in search of water, I mixed the soil up a little earlier.

I will flush it tomorrow in case there is something in the soil that is harmful. Then the last gallon I add will only have 5 drops of nutes (full strength would be 80 per gallon) just to make sure there is some kind of nutrition in there.

I've been thinking maybe I should get some fish emultions (5-1-1) at walmart, thinking it may give me the N I probably need with less risk of burning.

use a little bit of p too for your rootgrowth if you want..
I thought I had a cup of water and forgot I went with juice, that always freaks me out for a second.

The MG nutes I have are 8-7-6, should I just stick with those instead of dealing with the emulsions?

Assuming I get these problems taken care of I will be switching to flower in probably about a week maybe two due to space limitations in my stealth box. When I do I plan to switch to Tiger Bloom unless someone can recommend a cheaper solution that can be picked up at a normal store.

Thanks for all your help.
