Moving to CO

My life has turned to shit. Divorced, loosing house... loosing my mind. I can't stay in this state any longer. My ex was the love of my life together for 8 years 2 kids. Every time I see her it hurts so much its driving me to dark thoughts. I need to just go, it's the only way I am going to make it out alive.

I have been talking about moving to CO for forever but because of my wife and her family ties I couldn't.

I'm already looking for work and looks like it shouldn't be too difficult to find one in my field. Million dollar question is where's the best place to live?
I'll have to rent because of the foreclosure but would also like to be able to grow.. is the attitude toward it changing there at all? Is it becoming accepted by some land lords? Prolly just a two bed (one for me and one for girls) pref under 600

AND I HATE SNOW!!! lol..... I live in IL and winters here suck. of course I know it snows there... but I hear its not as bad? I assume mountains yea but hows the mid lower parts of the state?

I have to agree....MI is closer to your kids and offers some of the same incentives...however maybe not the employment opps. To answer your question...Boulder or Golden would get my votes.
Good luck, Bud.

Actually I probably got better job opportunities in Michigan vs Colorado. Maybe I will look into MI as well... I got a lil family there.

Good luck finding anywhere in boulder or golden for under a grand a month. those towns are trendy tourist places.. plus they are close to the mtns and get more snow. auroa is cheap but its filled with ghetto or retirees. auroa isnt very mmj friendly. they banned all disp's. Colorado springs is cheaper and has less snow. ive seen lots of houses in the springs for a grand or less. i think if you have fam in mi thatd be the place to go. plus i think houses would be cheaper to buy there as well after you stack up. Landlords are catching on in co. Lots of em ban mmj cultivation in their leases. Most of the cool landlords already have already been found.

How about Durango? I know its a college town and rent isn't that cheap. If you can't grow where you live can you join a co op?

May i suggest Thorton, Westminster, Northglenn, Broomsfield... All close to denver mild winter compared to rest of state.

Hahaha, you just named 4 spots right next to each other and all are against pot. Not that you need the dispensary but none are there and have you ever seen the show American Weed? All the bust they make on that show are thornton and broomfield. I dont think they showed one in Denver at all. If you want the most friendly places in Colorado I suggest Denver and Boulder city limits. But, if your under or at your plant limit you have nothing to be concerned about anyway. These days, your more likely to get robbed than busted. Tell no one just like your in a non med state and stay safe. Good luck!

there's two dispensaries not ten minutes from me and I'm in the heart of broomfield, the shop isn't in broomfield but it's very handy for those north. there's actually two shops, altermeds and cpm , you can see one from the other. OP did mention 600 dollars a month rent, good luck in boulder with that. although much more weed friendly. OP sorry to hear about your misfortune, same thing happened to me and it took a couple decades to get over it. I'm with these others that think you should stay closer to your children. forget the woman and focus on the kids and how to make it all a little easier for them since they're the real victims.

I just want to say thank you to your great state for its ground breaking achievement last night! This just strengthens my resolve to move there. Thanks guys for your help.... now only prob I see is finding a spot to live.... I imagine there's going to be a huge influx of stoners moving to CO over the next few months/years. Will be good for your housing market that's for sure.

yep, a vet here myself and ready to get out of this terrible location. I am not getting foreclosed on, but my house is 34,000 dollars less than my mortgage. I am severely under water and I have been unemployed now for a while. I will be able to use my VA loan as this mortgage is not under it. So I should be able to find a nice house that the VA might pick up and I will not have to worry about landlords. I will be contacting my veteran assistance office tomorrow to find out what I need to do!!!! I am ready to ski down the mountains, should I find a good job. I am a level 3 IT technician, so I am sure that there are an abundance of them. I am ready to stop being looked at like a fool for using cannabis. I do not even drink and would like to quit smoking the tobacco. I will see what the VA can do for me here.
