moving seedlings outside

i am germinating inside once germinated they will go under 175w mh till weather breaks approx.4 wks. my question is when i put seedlings outside how much direct sunlight can they handle at first?

i've gone straight outside with no problems. if it were july that might be different but early spring i just put them out.

Hi Delta..

I think they can take full LIGHT.... but if it were me I would take some precaution.. by putting a screen over them for the first couple days....

beter safe than sorry!

YO DELTA9. get some old 2 by 4s and frame a nice size box and wrap polyester from a hardware store(home depot) around 5 sides of the box frame and rest the box over yours seedlings until they are big enough to compete with any kind of contact. Also make sure the polyester is about 60 percent transparent and some nice amount of holes for ventlation. works great. peace

I agree, direct sun should be no problem....just make sure they can't dry out too easily....
