Moving Pots From Bin to Bin

I've seen some grow setups that involve connecting your reservoir to your bin/bucket that is holding your plants. That way you can top off your water when needed. I'm assuming most dwc setups use this method.

I, on other hand, am a lazier breed of stoner. I don't want to deal with the setup and mess involved. So I've come up with a potential routine and I'm wondering if there is anything I'm failing to account for.

So I'm thinking about using a two bin system, except instead of connecting via tubing, I would switch from bin to bin when necessary. In order to do this I would prepare the backup bin when it is necessary to change the water. Then just take the lid off the used bin (pots, roots and all) and place it on the freshly prepared bin. No muss no fuss (what is muss anyway).

The only issue I can see is with topping off, but I don't see why I can't lift the lid a little and dump whatever water I need into the bin or put water in through the pots.

Any thoughts on this method?

I'd like to know what everyone else thinks about this also as I wanted to do this same thing with 5 gal buckets. Thanks, S

i dump new water throught the net pots every day. when i do a res change i move the plant to an empty bucket change my res and plop it back in, less than 15 mins.i dont see why you could not have a new one ready to go and just move your plant.when mine is in the empty bucket i pour clean water over it to get any debris off the roots.
