Moving indoor plant outside?

I started growing a clone in a pretty small cabinet setup about 4-5 weeks ago. Its already almost 18 inches high and nearly hitting my lights.

I know tying it down a bit to grow more horizontal is an option, but I'm located in SoCal and frost isn't really a thing here. Would I be fine to move it outside and let it finish off there in a few months?

The 10 day forecast has a high of 81 and a low of 51 (we're by the beach). Hoping to figure out a fix here soon so I don't have to lose what seems like a great, healthy, fast growing gal.

Currently we're in a pretty small one, but could go up to 10 gallons once we move it outside. Any suggestions?

We've been on 20-4 but switched to 12-12 yesterday. Like I said, trying to make a call quickly.
Switching from 20-4 to 12-12 is just asking your plant to flower... Decrease your light schedule gradually over the course of a couple weeks. Tie the plant down to buy yourself some time. The last thing you want is your plant to flower, then reveg. You'll lose so much time.

Unless you wish to flower them now. Are you looking for a harvest now or in the fall?....

I'm not too familiar with the weather in Cali, but the time left for a spring harvest is getting slim... Daylight is increasing fast and reveg before they're finished is a real possibility.

You have two basic options:

Put them outside in larger containers now and they will continue to veg and then begin flowering in late August or so, providing finished buds probably between apx. mid October and Mid November.

Put them outside now, but move them indoors for twelve hours of uninterrupted darkness every day until mature, producing harvest-able buds by the end of June to early July.

Good Luck.

The intention with switching to 12-12 the other day was to flower. But now I'm starting to think we don't have enough room to flower indoors.

I wanted to figure out my plan in the next 2 days before flower officially kicked in so if we moved outside, she'd go back to veg and get nice and big for an august/september harvest.

If I move it outside, can I just put it in a big pot and move it outside? Or do i need to get it used to the sunlight/elements? We get a fair amount of dew until about mid-late May since we're by the ocean.
