"Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb" is another great movie to watch while high.

George C. Scott got kind of mad at Stanley Kubrick because George C. Scott would do a scene serious and then Stanley Kubrick would say lets try it again but lighten it up some and then he would say for the fun of it take it way over the top, be funny to the point of being silly. Those were almost all the takes Stanley Kubrick used and George C. Scott didn’t like it and thought it made him look like a buffoon and unprofessional but they were really funny.

Slim Pickens as "Maj. Kong" was great! I always laugh up a storm at him. One thing to watch for is when he is running through the contents of the survival kit that each crewman has in case they get shot down or have to ditch because they went back and dubbed in something because of fairly recent events of the time.

The movie was set to be released right after JFK was assassinated and then "Fail Safe" came out first and that was of course a drama version of the same basic thing, and then JFK was assassinated so they held up releasing it longer but they felt one line just had to be changed because they thought it would just be wrong and offend people and bring up bad memories.

After "Maj. Kong" lists all the stuff in the kits the original line was; "Shoot, a fella' could have a pretty good weekend in Dallas with all that stuff" but since JFK had recently been assassinated there they dubbed in "Vegas" for "Dallas" but if you watch Slim Pickens lips you can easily tell he says "Dallas."

I think seeing Naked Lunch high would scar me for life!!! I love the movie, but don't think I could watch it stoned!

Zombie movies however are my favorite!!!!!! I especially love the bad, old or cheesy ones when I'm blazed!

Speaking of zombies...Max Brooks came to my college a few years ago and he signed my copy of The Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z...he is awesome and so hilarious!!

Burn After Reading

Crazy Shit. Like 2 ppl. die!

I was disappointed by "Burn After Reading." I am a fan of George Clooney and Brad Pitt and I think they work great together. The three "Ocean’s Eleven" flicks are really very good in my opinion and to me that is in part because of that pair working so well together. I saw the previews for "Burn After Reading" on a DVD I bought and thought it looked like it would be really good but to me it was like one of those cases where every good moment of the flick was in the preview so it looks great but then after you spend your money on it you find that everything or most everything between the parts shown in the preview are slow or dull or boring or just not all that entertaining.

But then that is an example of how individual taste defines what is good or great for each of us.

My neighbor and I both have fairly large collections of DVD’s and we had different tastes but normally both pick good movies but of different types so we exchange a stack of them with each other now and then and usually they are good movies but now and then one that one of us absolutely loves will be just about hated by the other. She really loved "Memoirs of a Geisha" and when I watched it I kept waiting and waiting telling myself that any moment something interesting will happen but it never did. It took me three times to get through the movie because I kept falling asleep. When I took it back I said I thought it was the world’s longest movie ever, or at least it seemed that way watching it. So again it is all taste.

A really great flick, though not one I would say it better when high, is "Radio." By chance one of my sister and brother in laws friends in a Doctor and he went to medical school and then did his internship and later went into practice in South Carolina and he was the real Radio’s Doctor. To him that made the movie extra special and he said the "Radio" part was done very well and was very much like Radio so I had to wonder if Cuba Gooding Jr. went and met Radio and hung around with him a while or if he just managed to peg him without ever meeting him.

It is like I always wondered about how in "The People vs. Larry Flynt" Courtney Love prepared for her role. She was really good in that flick. She played a psychotic white trash stripper who was addicted to heroin. I have to wonder if to prepare herself for that role she followed herself around for a year? However she did it she did it well.

When I watched the Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy film at the cinemas I thought it was so so. I added some herb to the equation the other night and man, it was like the deepest thing I've ever seen!
Looking up the old episodes now
