Mother Plant questions

I need an experts advice, or someone with some growing under their belt. I'm looking to make my mother plant bushier so I can have a lot of clone potentials. I've looked all around the web and found things on topping/fimming/LST techniques but was looking for someone's opinion on what an effective way was to do so. I'm not looking to bud this plant, just to make more branches and opportunities to clone. Any suggestions would be great, I'm about 3.5 weeks into vegging from seed, and have about 4-5 nodes on the plant.

Thanks a lot :weed:

I'd say do a bit of each. There is no harm in expermenting with it. At this point in the mothers life you could do pretty much any of the techiques and gain from it. Since it sounds like you haven't used any of them before why not just play with it, so that you really understand what they are and not just have descriptions and pictures.

If you start to LST at an early age you can really lay the plant down horizontal and open it up to grow clone branches straight up. I have found this method yields many more clones than just growing vertical. Topping helps too. Creating a form that works well for you will pay off dividends.

I dont keep mothers, just clone as ya go. I do lst all my plants and would reccomend this to do.Less stress on the plant than say topping.I top just after the clones root then let them go a week or 2 then rope them over till the tops touch the top of the bucket.Rope all the tops down and in a week she will explode with new branches shooting up at the light. Each branch will make for a nice cola when done or say a nice clone too.But as I said I dont keep mothers and just clone as I go....I take all my cuttings when I trim and just before I send them to bloom and only use the smaller branches that I would have thrown away for my clones. The tops I leave for makeing buds

I think I'll do what LowEnder said and just try a mixture of everything. I have 4 mothers right now and topped one of them, maybe try LST on another. Thanks for the input, I can't wait til harvest :hump: haha.
