what would be the best way to raise these girls from birth? in rockwool alone? in rockwool and hydroton? just hydroton? soil pellot thing? soil pellot thing and hydroton? other mediums? thanks for the suggestions -- i know i can do the research, and i have -- and will more -- but i haven't asked yet, and as He says; you have not because you ask not.

I germinated in Jiffy Peat pellets and once I saw a root I buried the pellet in 100% perlite.
Rockwool and hydroton works too.
Basically, you can have any combination you want. The medium is there to hold the plant upright is all.
As long as the roots can find their way through the medium, you can use whatever.

i heard that peat and pearlite were dangerous, harmful, and messy -- for both me, and the life form too...

is this true?

i germed in a glass of water and immediately put into a 100% perlite medium.
i havent had any trouble with it yet, the only thing is that you must keep the perlite wet because the dust created when its dry is harmful to your lungs.

I would get the seeds popped in the rockwool cubes. My clones were semi rooted. My friend had started them in a small ebb n flow setup. I then moved those to my stealth dwc. U can see more of what's going on in my sig. But best of luck to u, I'll be watching

ahhhh man... i cant get clones. i have to birth these baby girls. do you have any suggestions???
Hey afroman35, Im in the same sitc as you. This is my first grow/dwcgrow and cant get clones. Figured I'ld lend a hand.
I started 5/21/10, last Fri. I placed my beans in a cup with h2o and covered it; placed it in a dark place. Waited 8 hrs poked them down into the water, the ones that sank can be placed into the medium you choose right then. I waited until they crack while at the botton of the glass before puting them in rocwool, might take 12-24 hrs to crack and show some white.
Before you put your seeds in the rocwool, seriously soke/submerge the rocwool in 5.2-5.5 ph h20 for like 30 secs then very very gently squeeze the top of the rocwool so the excess h2o drips out the bottom - repeat 2 or 3 times. Brand new rocwools natural ph is like 8.5, ouch! Try not to butcher the cubes like I did. I used like 2 for practice/recked them .
Its now 5/27/10 Thurs. and I have 2/3 beans that I placed in the cup are now an inch tall with 4 sets of leaves (2 are seed leaves). As soon as I put them in the cubes they went under lights - 18/6 schedule with 6500k flouros. So far so good. Hope this helps. I will be watchn lets help each other out on this! :joint:

haha thanks brother for the help. yeah ill definitely be here keepin track of it. but i am not puttin up pics... maybe of the setup. but even that... nah.

hahaha dude i love your signature though -- Mylar is fictional character made strictly for the purpose of gathering information for a documentary about the cannibas culture and life style. hahaha i definitely did NOT make a "fictional character" i just used my regular old screen name.

so thats why im going to be quite particular.
