Mosquitoes in Neighbors Pool Question

Ok, I have some neighbors on one side of our house that has a green water swimming pool that breeds mosquitoes like crazy. Me and my wife get bit a lot when outside in the evening. The bugs are getting past our screen door and get in the house. We are concerned about west nile for us humans and heart worms for the dogs. Here is the tricky question, would you anonymously report the pool to the city and they will come and kill the bugs or add fish to eat them? I REALLY hate reporting people but this is a serious health issue. The other thing is I think they grow and that is why the pool isn't maintained. Gotta keep the electricity use down. Plus I smell their weed pretty regularly.

I don't want any added attention for my neighbors, but absolutely don't want any extra mosquitoes around either. What would the sane people here do?

Throw oil in the pool or go get some fish from a feed store, the ones they put in animal water troughs.

I would talk to them be honest about the health issue and if they dont clean it up call the City, this is not like calling the cops it is the city ord department.

West Nile is real, we have had several cases here already. I went to lowes and got some spray that hooks up to the hose, I water down the whole back yard, fence, trees, bushes everything every other week.

Maybe go get some of that and douse your side. Might keep them away from you at least

I think a talk is in order for sure. I will do that I guess. I just get the vibe that they won't deal with it. I was going to ask if I can buy the mosquito fish and put them in their pool. I also don't want the job of dealing with their pool either. I want to stay as distanced from them as I can too. I think their operation is pretty big and don't want any association with them. That is the problem.

Oh well a talk can't hurt except cause tension between neighbors that grow. Things can get awkward and we both have much peace right now.

Spraying my yard is a great idea. Just have to find pet and wildlife friendly spray. West Nile is spreading in the San Fernando Valley this year. They say it's going top get bad.

Talk to them dude, say " you guys ever heard of West Nile Virus?" Mosquitoes carry it and it's deadly.. Its true too. I am a pool owner and have a grow room and I know its a lot electricity but fuck that nonsense. If you own a pool, you should maintain it. Here in AZ they give you a fine and they do fly overs to report green pools.

Talk to them. $20 of dry chlorine pool shock will kill anything. I wouldn't call the city without talking to them. That's not very neighborly. If they're cool they'll oblige you, if not then call the city.

But 1st I would talk to them.

Just spray around your yard, it's a fogger.bongsmilie

Kills all the Mosquitoes in your yard and doesn't bother the pets. Just don't fog with them around, wait a bit.

Good Luck :bigjoint:
