This Monday, the 7th, is closing day for most of LAs Medical Marijuana Dispensaries. Orders to shutter the windows by then have been issued to 439 such establishments. 137 will be allowed to stay open. (The LA Times provides an interactive map) that will show you whos going and whos staying in your neighborhood.)
The action by the City is the result of a new marijuana ordinance that takes effect June 7th. In accordance with the new law, all medical marijuana shops must close unless they were among the 186 original dispensaries that registered with the city before November 13, 2007 which reminds us how long this issue has hanging around.
Of the original group only 137 remain open. Those dispensaries have six months to comply with the requirements of the ordinance.
