moldy buds

I was checking the trichs on my oldest plant (all cloudy, no amber) when I found one bud being destroyed by mold. So I decided to harvest. I'm trimming my second branch when I found more mold inside another bud. Of course, the 2 moldy buds went in the trash but I'm a little nervous about the rest of the plant. Is the entire plant affected even though there's no visible mold? Growroom conditions are 76f, 50% rh, and I don't mist flowering plants.

I don't see mold on my other 2 plants, but i did put an extra fan in there to circulate air through the lower buds. I also have a sulfer-based fungicide (sulfer .20%, pyretherins .01%) but should I apply it to full grown buds a week or two from harvest? One of my colas is as fat as my arm and I'm extremely worried about it getting mold on the inside.

What would you guys do? skip curing due to the added risk of mold? BHO extraction? I'm thinking that no visible mold = safe to smoke, but I'm still nervous about curing it.

I keep finding buds with fluffy white mold on them, 4 or 5 so far. I've used the search function and none of the 230 threads that use the word "mold" answers my questions. Is my entire grow fucked? Should I soak my buds with fungicide even though I'm 2 weeks before harvest? Should I drop my temps? Will the extra fan help? I've never dealt with this issue before and I really need some advice.

Sounds like you've got powder mildew.. A lot of people swear by using a milk spray at either a 9to1 or 10to1 ratio of water to milk.
Thee enzymes in the milk stop the mold spores

Throw away all the visibly moldy buds. Everything else is fine. If you are worried about mold when you drying just break up all the colas into smaller buds ie. dont let it dry as a donkey dick but as a bunch of balls (which you should do anyways)... Once dried, cure away.

Goodluck

Mold is all about humidity, if its too humid then your going to get mold, standing water or any excess moisture can cause humidity to rise, i had this with my greenhous grow earlier this year, i took the moldy buds and chopped it all out, and left them finish, and they smoked fine, just be careful and keep your eyes on each bud as it appears randomly and comes on pretty quick !

Get rid of it !

Thanks guys, I've had a dozen harvests so far and never had this issue. The strain is sour diesel and this is by far my best grow yet. Thankfully it's only a few buds so far, but my other 2 still have a good couple of weeks till harvest. I'll be examining them closely everyday :)

I appreciate the advice!!! good karma all around!!!

I have one, doesn't fit in my 4x4x6 flower box ;) ...I have a window a/c mounted in one of the panels though, keeps the humidity at a steady 50% even when I run the dehumidifier outside the box. :leaf:

edit: the dehumidifier also raises ambient temps by 5 degrees F for my entire basement lol... since it doesn't make a difference anyway, I don't bother.

take caution my friend... i had the same issue a few days ago, where just one of my several plants' buds showed mold/white mesh/goo. i cut out a few pieces, but with the consistent rain that fell, i came out to several plants the next day with issues everywhere.

im a few weeks from harvest, but decided to chop today on several plants, as well as chopping an entire plant. spent the entire afternoon fishing through every particle to rid as much as i can, but still have doubts as these things are hanging dry.

i left a few buds still on the stalk after cutting out a lot more. if it doesnt rain the next few days, i should be ok.

you'll have to make a decision -harvest early, not reach the potential it could have attained, but at least have some decent smoke - or, ride it out, take your chances, and potentially lose everything.
