I start a new crop every 2-3 months. Today I open up my soil mixing bin after its been sitting in my cold garage for 3 months, and I find mold. I left a cup in there for scooping out soil, and the cup is covered with mold. I dont see any mold on the soil or on the sides of the bin, just on this cup.
I threw out the cup of course, but should I throw out the whole bin? Its only got about 1 cubic foot of soil in there so it wont be too big a deal, im just wondering.
In case anybody cares, the cup is paper, and has been in the bin for almost 2 years, never saw mold in there before. The soil is peat based, with a good amount of perlite in it.
