hey, just wanted some peoples opinion on my idea of this modified DTW system ive been thinking about.
If someone could chime in, if this would or would not work please do so. thanks!DTW idea.png

just a little more info about why I want to do this... my first grow was a full hydro which I failed at, had success with soil and now I want to try and ease back into hydro with coco. my grow space is a very limiting 24x24x56
with little to no space around the tent, so I wanted to try this with a 5-10gal res. my thought is that this set up could help aerate the water when recirculates back into the res as well as constantly mixing the nutes and also pressure regulation.

Ps. please excuse my poor attempt at a CAD drawing in MS pain.

Just throw some coco fabric pots in the tent and hand water them. I don’t think it’s worth your time in a 2x2. Just grow one plant lol

you don't need the return line on the feed res. just a small pump, a manifold and some feed lines and a timer.

and IMO i think coco should only be done dtw so you are on the right track.

I think your going to end up clogging your water pump unless you can filter your run off, second how are you going to know exactly what’s coming out off your runoff other then EC and PH.

check out the 6 site adjustable. that's what i use for 4 plants. i leave one open which will eliminate siphoning when pump shuts off.
get a roll of black silicone aquarium tubing. and a submersilbe pump that the DiG manifold will thread into. digital timer.

Ah ok I didn’t know if you’d be using an auto system of some kind of just walking in and flicking on the pump haha! I only say that because I have bad experiences with water lines and tubes so I kept it simple. Good luck man! :bigjoint:

I hear ya there that's basically the reason my first hydro grow failed.. had no idea how to manage the algae and salt buildups and it really scared me off anything hydro for a while but this being a DTW system I hope it will alleviate that issue, I really want to have the luxury of being able to leave town for a week so im willing to play around with dialing it in and if all else fails ill hand water, im probably going to stick with 100% coco in 2 gal plastic pots.

only thing i'd recommend you re-think is the sprayers vs that DiG manifold. with sprayers or drippers or emitters, you always run the risk of them clogging. which would ruin your desire to go away for a week. i put a brass tee on the end of the tubing just to give it some weight to keep it in place near the stalk.

but you'd be hard pressed to clog up a 1/4 line. i use a 30 gal res and go away for 2 weeks without worries.

good luck!
